I have one big, root-bound one and several smaller ones. They just sit there. I found they do NOT like to be in any kind of sunlight.

I have one old one that sits outside and I never even think of it. Least I THINK it's still alive out there. We brought it with us when we moved. I believe one of us used it one time. Used to buy the aloe gel in the huge jug at Walfart when we used to go to the beach and liked it. But if I recall it did more good for a burn than the "real" thing.
