I can't say I have made that type. Most of my experience with bird feeder construction consists of repairing bear damage and swearing.
I'm sure birdies would like those, though.

I have.
I also have a really nice book called Projects for The Birder's Garden. Great book to find projects to do with a child or grandchild. They use lots of scraps and repurposed household items.

I used to make the pinecones with peanut butter rolled in seeds. Havent done it for a long time
so might have to pick up some pinecones.
Our problem is feeding the birds draws the cats.
