    During the winter, you canít blame your kids for wanting to stay indoors. Not only can freezing temperatures be unpleasant, but they can actually be dangerous.     I tell them we're going outside. So far, that's all that's been needed. We have a bunch of things they can do outside; a garden-turned-sandbox, chalk, toys, balls, a water table if it's nice, bikes, simple building materials. We spend a fair amount of time outside as a family, from going to parks, walks around the block, or hiking, that it isn't difficult for them to find something to do. Even in colder temperatures, depending on wind and precipitation.
