Cool, Easy and Frugal - Pies with Graham Cracker Crusts
I once worked with a young woman who didn't know it was possible to make your own graham cracker pie crusts. All she or her mother had ever used were store-bought. Like many young homemakers, she didn't remember the days when pies were made from scratch and running to the store every day wasn't an option.
Making your own graham cracker pie crust is so quick and easy!
And most of us always have the 3 ingredients on hand, so there's
really no good reason not to make your own!
So here's the recipe--an added bonus to the obvious money-saving is--homemade tastes lots better!
Graham Cracker Pie Crust
Mix together 1 cup graham cracker crumbs (Use your rolling pin to crush about 8 whole graham crackers between 2 sheets of waxed paper.)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 stick butter or oleo, melted
Press on bottom and sides of 8 or 9-inch pie pan. Chill until
needed.
Here's a simple recipe for a pie to go into that crust! This is easy
to make and is a delicious treat for any occasion.
Easy Lemonade Pie
1 small can pink lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 small carton whipped topping
Just mix all together and pour into pie crust. Chill at least 2
hours before serving.
Enjoy!
One more recipe for a cool dessert using graham cracker pie crust.
"Refrigerator Pies" are so nice to make in the summer when it's
too hot to cook and too hot to eat anything hot!
Quick and Snappy Pineapple-Cheese Pie
1 8-oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 small carton whipped topping
1 large can crushed pineapple, drained
Whip softened cream cheese and sugar together well. Fold in the whipped topping; then the drained pineapple. Pour into the pie crust. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
