    Default 2016 Menu Planning Challenge

Wow! Has menu planning saved my hide this year?!?! I've been pretty consistent with weekly menu planning and have only missed a few weeks (I will have to go back to my calendar but I'm fairly certain I've planned for about 44 weeks throughout this year). But it has been such a wonderful tool to keep me on track and accountable.

In my effort to save even more money this year and keep an even tighter rein on our grocery spending, I'm tackling this challenge again and use what's in our freezer and pantry as starting points. It also helped to pick up things based on the sales flyer at my local grocery store.

I'd love to have you join me in 2016! I'll probably be posting my first week's menu for January this coming weekend.

I'm in. I did better this past year than in 2014. This year is going to be even better. I really want to drastically cut grocery spending. I'll post my week 1 menu in a bit.

I have tried (and partially stuck with) meal planning the past two years and would like to join in if that's ok. I'm hoping something like this would help keep me on track with it.

I will give it a go. I have so much food crammed into the freezers that I really need to start using up what is there before I buy anymore. The only thing that I will have to remember to do is to post our menu plan. I always have great intentions and then -------

Pinetree, doing a week or week and a half at a time has been key for me. I can time my menus to correspond with the sales flyer at the grocery store so I'm getting the most out of the sales every week.

Thanks AspiringToBeFrugal, I really need to do something, I also hate trying to find something last minute. I have 2 freezers and I know I can do this, I will try to follow you guys till I get the hang of it. I am looking forward to this!

I don't do menus for home use, but if it's okay, I'll put a twist on this challenge in hopes of accomplishing something I've been trying to do for years. I need to come up with detailed menus for travel food and then develop checklists for packing the camper and truck with food for those menus. I don't have the resources in the camper I have at home, so it's important to have every single insignificant item listed for every meal we might want to make while away from home. If I could get it all noted and organized into a checklist, it would speed up our packing time considerably and help ensure we're not forgetting things.

Oh my goodness, YES! You make this challenge work for you...whatever you want to challenge yourself to do in menu-planning is perfect!

I will be doing this challenge. I did great last year even tho I didn't post all the time about it. It made little waste in my fridge and kept my food budget on POINT! I'll prolly be posting January tmw or maybe later today.

I would love to figure out how to be successful at menu planning but I'm not! I never stick to a plan. I guess if I just list meals we could have each week and make sure I have what I need to do those meals that would work. Putting a meal to a specific day has never worked for me, something always comes up and messes up the plan!
