I need to eat from my pantry and freezer as much as possible. Anybody else with me?

ME, ME, ME!! I really need to get our grocery budget under control, especially since our freezers, and pantry are very well stocked. The only things I should need to buy on a weekly basis is fresh produce, dairy, and bread; with the occasional meat purchase (either pork or beef; we have plenty of chicken, salmon, & venison on hand). *sigh* So, I'm right there with you!!

I am with you!!! I am building a pantry still, but I am not going out shopping constantly when I have things in the stash still.

Yes! We have a side-by-side fridge/freezer and our food gets shoved to the back and forgotten. I'm scared of what all I might find in there. That's a great idea!

I am absolutely in with you. I'm not really much of a creative cook, but I'm going to try my best!!! Gotta use that stuff up before buying more!

If our house deal falls through, we will definitely be eating out of the pantry and freezer.

All my $$ this month is going to car insurance due Jan. 6.

    Smile I'm With You

We are on a fixed income, and with cost of groceries rising, I need to use what I have. Also..... we may be moving, and I don't want to move food! So we are up for the challenge.

Now..... how does the challenge work? What do we post and how often do we update how things are going? Can someone fill me in on the nuts and bolts of the challenge?

You can post as much as you want the meals you are making from your pantry or freezer. These threads tend to get pretty big. Basically you cook what you have and try to use it all up. Live off what you got. Now if you need to go get milk, eggs or produce, that's fine, just try not to buy anything else. If you can find past challenges try to read through those so you can get an idea. I think in October there was a good one.

I would like to be in on this one but need to add a twist to it. I want to eat off what is in the freezer and pantry now AND spent 75% of the normal grocery budget to build a stockpile for the rest of the winter season. In other words, to not buy anything to eat in the month of January but to get loss leaders and coupon deals for the stockpile. I know pasta and anything made with wheat is going to go up in price this month. I have no idea how to make pasta so I want to stock up. Would that be OK

That would be fine. There are no set rules, I just posted what it means to me.

I am in on this one. I did this challenge in October and am ready for another one.
We had $700 in repairs to DH truck this month so need to cut the budget somewhere next month.
