Default Yikes! The price of nectarines!

DD asked me to get nectarines. I want to get more fruits and veggies into our diet, so I agreed, even though they're not on sale. I picked out 4 nice looking nectarines just for her.

How much do you think those 4 nectarines rang up at? About $4.80.

    Yikes!

They're awful here too. But I have a really happy story from last night. I stopped by the grocery store late after work, and saw fresh apricots -- they don't appear in the stores here very often and are always extravagantly expensive. I looked at the sign in disbelief -- $1.00 a pound? I picked up some, but asked the checker to see what they scanned for. I still couldn't believe it, but it was true. And they were wonderful, not mealy as they often are. I'm stopping again tonight to see if any are left!

I wonder if this is a regional thing? Right now they are .97/pound here, and usually go on sale for .67/pound later in the season.

Nectarines are probably one of my favorite fruits, but I won't buy them if they are too much, I'll wait until they come in season in another month or so. Strawberries have been pretty inexpensive here and I'm about strawberried out so I hope something else comes in season soon! LOL

They aren't too bad here. Both peaches and nectarines are .99 a lb. If they weren't on sale, then I would have definitely passed on them.

Peaches and Nectrines are both $1.99 a lb. Here right now so we got Watermelon for 1.00 each from the roadside stand. Yes, a dollar for a whole watermelon. Its gotten so hot in our area that they are starting to burst in the fields. Soon the cantalopes will follow.

Fruit is always spendy up here. Nectarines are $2.99/lb or more 99% of the time.

We usually go for bananas... And apples when they're on sale...

They were 1.69 on sale here the other day. I picked out 4 hard ones and thought they would be nice and soft in a few days but I looked and they were gone the next day! DD had eaten them hard and all! Then she said she thought they were peaches. LOL!! What a goof!
