Homemade Granola Bars...yummm
I made these yesterday, it was soo quick and simple and my family loved them!
No-Bake Granola Bars
Try this recipe for No-Bake Granola Bars from a recent issue of Southern Living magazine. Recipe submitted by Carol C. in San Antonio, TX.
No-Bake Granola Bars
2 1/2 c crisp rice cereal
2 c uncooked quick-cooking oats
1/2 c raisins
1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c light corn syrup
1/2 c peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c milk chocolate morsels
Combine first three ingredients in a large bowl; set aside. Bring brown sugar and syrup to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until blended.
Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal mixture, stirring until coated; let stand 10 minutes. Stir in chocolate morsels. Press mixture firmly into a 13x9-inch pan; cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Yum, I am going to make these this weekend. I've been looking for a cheaper alternative to those expensive bars from the store. Thanks!

It would probably be really good with crunchy Peanut Butter also. That way you get some nuts in there. Also heat some extra choc up and drizzel on top before cutting.
Great recipe. Will diffently try this one.

Do you think these would work with instant oatmeal? We have some that needs to be used up?
I don't normally eat oatmeal, so I don't know the difference between quick cooking and instant.
Thanks.

I made these yesterday and I just have to say THANK YOU. They are awesome! I made them minus the raisins and instead of chocolate chips I ground up left over Easter Candy and put that in.
I personally think they would work with the instant oatmeal, especially if its plain.

Are they chewy? DBF only likes the chewy granola bars, but he eats them often. I'd rather he eat something I know the ingredients to.

I make these minus the raisins. My kids love them. I think I got the recipe a couple years ago from allrecipes. I've sent them to school and had people call for the recipe.

Made these this morning and they are really good. I used small M&M's since I had some sitting around for awhile. Also didn't use the raisins because my kids don't care for them. They are a chewy granola bar.
Thanks for the recipe.
