Check your pennies!
I was rolling pennies from my coin jar and found the penny that has the wrong crown for the queen and no date on the front. It's of a special copper. It's worth about $50! The same coin of ordinary copper is about $3. After finding the $50 penny I found two $3 pennies right in front of me!
Now I'm afraid to roll my pennies without looking at each one!
So for all us coin savers out there - check before you roll!
It might just boost your savings!

What a find! Good for you! Are you going to trade it for $$? or just keep it?

I'm going to trade it in for $$$! I just need to figure out how and where. Dh has a 1945 Victory nickel. Don't know if it's worth much but the 1943 one sold for over $30,000. He said he'd like to keep it as a collectors item. My response was that there is no way we would have a $30,000 collector item sitting around the house! Not when we're trying to save for a home! But I doubt we're that fortunate. If it's under a $100 I'll let Dh keep it for his collection since he's a war buff. But the pennies will go!

I have a Civil War coin somewhere...honestly I'm not sure where. I'm sure that there are lots of Civil War coins floating around so I'm not too excited for myself.
Thanks for the penny notice. I'll definately keep my eyes open on the queen from now on!

Wow, thats cool! Is there a date anywhere on the penny? Can you post a pic? DH and I tend to put all old coins into our display case, sure would be nice if we had one of those too, LOL!

That's really neat. My grandma always saved coins and separated out the "special" ones that might have been worth more money someday. Good luck with the 1945 coin!

Last year while rolling pennies I found a penny that on the side with the maple leafs that is all u could see and it was stretched out. It was an error coin. I sold it on ebay and made $100.00 from it. Before doing so I went to a coin forum online and posted pictures to get an approximate worth.
