Sam's Club Locations Closing in Canada
The buggers! I just renewed my membership in late Jan - didn't have it for a month and all the locations are closing down?
My friend told me that it was just Ontario locations but its all the Sam's Clubs in Canada, as per the message on their site - link below. I think they're going to convert the Clubs into SuperCentres instead. But my problem is where the Club is now, a Walmart is just around the corner and it's almost a SuperCentre. Wonder which they're going to keep?
Stores will be closed effective March 1/09.

I followed the link. It seems that there will be a liquidation after the closing, maybe you can find some good deals at that time.

I would definitely be asking for a refund for the months you will not be using. That $40 (or whatever you paid), you should be able to get a portion back. If not report it to Canada's equivalent to the better business bureau.

(Nosy American here) Can you get a refund for March-Dec? Seems to me if you rejoined in Jan, you should only have to pay for Jan & Feb.

I read in another article they are not offering refunds of your membership but you can use your card at American sam's clubs until it expires. With the Canadian dollar being so bad you would end up paying a 30% premium on everything you bought

Oh, I'd be ticked. We have a Costco membership that I'm debating renewing or not. Looked into Sam's but it's basically the same as Costco and the Costco was closer to home.
I sure hope you get some good deals at the liquidation to make up for the cost of your lost membership.

We don't have Sam's Club in our province. However, it's one reason I'm even debating about renewing my membership in Fabricland. It's kinda scary.

I chose to not renew my membership at Fabricland. I haven't been buying much so I just haven't.
I'm not even using my costco card much either. I may just stick to superstore and get a girlfriend topick up the few things I like from costco.

I don't have a Sam's Club Membership...I found them too much like Costco. My mom has a Costco and Sam's membership, so if I wanted to go to one of the two stores I'd go with her.
