Thrift shops in UK???
Hi there
Still planning to move to UK, DH found a job, so I am trying to find information. I got lots of feedback about grocery store, thank you all. Are there any Thrift shops in UK around and ourtside of London?
Also do you know of any forums in UK similar to Frugal village?

Hi,
Yes we have a large amount of charity shops here. Most sell a bit of everything but others specialise in furniture, books and even "ethical" wares. In the larger cities we even have Oxfam "originals" stores which cater for the retro and vintage clothing lover. So there is pretty much something for everyone.
In terms of frugal sites, this is still the best for general chat about frugality, imo but the best UK site for frugality and money related stuff is moneysavingexpert.com

I think you will find more charity shops in the 'somewhat more middleclass' neighbourhoods, certainly not 'down town'.

Charity shops are everywhere, there are 7 in my little town in SE London area!
I'm not originally from Canada, but from the US. One thing that is different here is that I haven't found any charity shops that resell small electric appliances, perhaps that is a legal issue.
Also, gumtree.com is kind of like a version of craigslist for london.

Hi,
Some charity shops do sell electicals but it varies from shop to shop depending on whether or not they have someone to test the items beforehand. The kind stuff they're not supposed to sell are things like safety equipment - bike/ horse riding helmets, swimming aids and things like that.
