Need ideas for what to do with these items in my stockpile...
Refried beans, frozen peaches, canned corn, canned peaches and pears, instant mashed potato flakes, dry kidney beans, walnuts, raisins, canned orange juice...can you tell we do commodities????
I need ideas on how to use these up besides the usual chili with the beans and fruit coblers with the fruit.

Bean burritos, Taco Bravos (like Taco John, Wrap a flour tortilla covered with beans around a regular crunch taco), bean dip, nachos, peach smoothies, peach smoothie popsicles, freeze the canned peaches and or pears into popsicles, use instant potatoes in with your regular mashed potatoes or in potato soup, cookies, homemade granola or snack mix, orage juice smoothies and popsicles. I don't know what kidney beans are good for other than chili, though dd will eat any kind of bean straight out of the can. How about using them in some bean bags or those microwaveable neck pillow wrappy things (doo-dads, gizmos, whatever they are called).

How about bread pudding in which you add either peaches, another time, raisins....mmmmmm...my cousin gave me her recipe and you can adapt it anyway you want. You add the fruits you like and how much you like.
I'll get you the recipe...I'll be right back, Debbie!

LOL, was going to say it sounds like you hit a food bank or two. I can use the same ideas!!!! We like refried beans, spanish rice on tortillas with cheese. YUM.
In looking for ways to use up peaches I found this recipe.
It-Oughta-Be-Illegal Peach Cheesecake
1 cup fresh peach juice & pureed peach pulp
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
1 package vanilla pudding mix
1 cup sugar
1 premade graham cracker crust pie
Mix up the filling ingredients, dump the filling in the shell, bake until done (350F oven), 1 hour. Chill until firm. Serve.
PS, this was post 250 for me. LOL
And someone gave me this recipe, I havent tried it yet.
Peaches and Cream Muffins
1 egg
1/2 cup milk or sour cream
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup fresh or frozen chopped peaches, thawed
Beat egg, add milk and oil. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir into the egg mixture, just until moistened. Stir in the peaches. Fill greased or papaer lined muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done. Cool for 5 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool.

How about Taco Salad for the beans?
Make a regular salad (lettuce, tomatoe and whatever other veggies to throw in...but this is all we use), add a bag of fritos, grated cheese, browned hamburger with beans added and warmed and Catalina salad dressing to your taste.
It doesn't keep well once you add the fritos and dressing so you may want to make it as you go....that's what we do.
Yum.

raisins and walnuts would get added to oatmeal cookies at my house! raisins in rice pudding is good too, and we make raisin cookies (I love them, my mom hates them)
peaches would get spooned over pancakes for breakfast or made into a trifle.
Peaches and Spice Bread
1 cup oats
1/4 cup apple juice *
1 egg
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups bread flour
1/4 cup miller bran
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 cups peaches -- drained
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup walnuts
2 teaspoons yeast **
* or the juice from the canned peaches. ** for panosonic machine use
4 teaspoons
Place all in bread pan, select light crust setting and press start.
cool 1 hour beore slicing.
Note: this is NOT a quick bread

Are the peaches fresh and whole ? or canned sliced?
if they are fresh/whole, i have a recipe for dessert.
take the peaches cut in half and pit them. take them to a hot grill, place on grill cut side down for a few minutes, check, when you see grill marks in the flesh, turn over. put a teaspoon or so of brown sugar and maybe a dollop of orange marmelade in the peach pit holes, grill skin side down for a few more minutes. till the brown sugar is melty. wont take but a minute or so. Don't leve it there longer than two mintues or so because it will get too soft and fall apart. (ask me how I know)use tongs to get this to a plate, set it cut side up. serve with vanilla ice cream on it or beside it. yum.

What are commodities? And how do you do them?
I'd make a peach cobbler. Or 3.

Oh! Oh! Have you ever had raisin pie? I have no clue where my recipe is. Plain raisin pie is good, but the custard type of raisin pie is FABULOUS!

Duh, I forgot to add that orange juice is a great base for fruit smoothies. I have no clue where those recipes are either, of course. They wouldn't go through a sippy cup, so I don't make them yet. I've made peanut butter banana smoothies. I'd bet the peaches would be good with bananas and enough orange juice to make it pour/drinkable. You can add yogurt if you want, but it's certainly not mandatory.
