Does anyone do the RE "drawings"?
I figure this is the appropriate forum as these are really more like swaps than drawings...
I just subscribed to Refund Express magazine, and was interested to see that there are many pages full of readers' "drawings". Someone offers a prize, then to enter their drawing, you send them gifts ("donations") from their wish list. They request things like cash (!), gift cards, certain qualifiers for refunds, toys, kids clothes.... you name it, someone is probably asking for it. The whole thing seems weird to me, but yet I'm still tempted to enter a few of them-- some of the drawings are for 200 stamps, which would really come in handy for my ChemoAngel cards!
Just wondering if anyone else has entered these, and if so, you feel it's really worth the "donation" you send?

I've decided to enter a few with small donations- things that will fit in a regular business sized envelope. Stamps, koolaid packets, address labels, maybe $1 cash if it's something I really want (like a Longaberger basket!). I'll let you know if I win anything!

Interesting concept! The 200 stamps person would have to have 74 people send them $1 to break even. I wonder if that many people participate.
I subscribe to Refund Cents and posted an ad a few months ago saying that if people sent me $1 and a self-addressed, stamped envelope, I would fill it with either childrens, adult, or reward stickers (I had just started maternity leave and had an overabundance of stickers left over from school). I had about 10 people send me the stuff and that pretty much exhausted my sticker supply, but I made $10 since the stickers all came to me free in the first place. I don't know that I'd do it again, but it was interesting, to say the least. One woman sent me $1 and envelopes three times. The last time I had to send a note saying this is it, you've taken all my stickers...please don't send me another envelope! (But thanks for doing business!)
