    Default I'm kind of new.

I joined back in April, made my newbie post and then I dunno what happened.

Anyways, I am back here and active. I started posting again yesterday. Many things have changed since I first introduced myself, so I'll do it again!

My name is Whitney, I'm 22 and married. I'm the house b*tch at the moment no outside job. No children of the human variety yet. We have some furry little critters that we call our kids, though. I'm going to school for elementary education and my DH is in the Marine Corps.

We had been living frugally in California, but we kind of dropped out of it when we moved to North Carolina in August. Now I'd like to get back into it again!

We've been debt-free since June 2008 with the exception of our mortgage and are working on a 'baby fund' of what I hope will near $20,000 before we have a child. That's our money goal.

I've also had to pinch pennies with me not working. Typically we're a dual income family and sit rather comfortably. However, because of the move I've had a tough time finding a job that's worth it. My last job made me miserable and I left due to a few things and our 'fun' money went out the door. I'm waiting until after the holidays and all of our travel is out of the way to work again. This time I'm thinking part-time since I can focus more on school. Life is too short to be miserable working 24 hours a day.

We've been making it work for the past two months on one income. Things are tighter than we like, but before we were just wasteful. I don't feel as if our quality of living has suffered any, we're just more thoughtful when it comes to purchases and dining out. I have the extra time to coupon-clip and cook from scratch again and we seem to have a lot more food these days for almost a third of the cost of our 'convenient' food before.

I think it's time we take a simpler approach to life as well. When we were living in California there was a bit of 'keep up with the Jones'' that hit us. Now that we've moved and stepped away from that I can see the unnecessary things we had in our lives.

The East Coast has a lot that the West Coast didn't, like libraries on every corner that we can take advantage of. We're also living closer to a base, which means I can commissary shop and buy at the PX as well, tax-free on top of already low prices. They also have a $1 per 5 nights movie place that I think may replace our Direct TV and supplement Netflix.

Anyways, that's my life story! Thanks for being awesome people who are willing to help and offer advice.

Well all I can say at this time, you are nice to look at, and you write very well.

Having spent 12 years in the Military in my youth, in our poverty stricken Canadian Army, I can sympathize with the misery of moves. It certainly does upset ones way of life.

    Welcome.

    Welcome.

Well thank you. I majored in English for my first few years in college, that would explain the writing part. However, I had to move after two years, so no degree was attained. Wonderful military life.

I just noticed the Nikki Sixx question. I get asked that a lot. Actually, when I first made the screen name (a few years ago) I wanted it to be "QueenOfHearts" but of course, that was taken. I tried everything, but had to add another 'X' into the name to produce Sixx Of Diamonds. It stuck, I guess!
