We're Moving!
Yep, tomorrow we pack the moving van and off we go. After tomorrow I'll be offline for a few days.
But...... I need any advice you might have for me to make this transition smooth. I have packed our luggage with things that we might need during the first few days in the new house: TP, sheets, pillows, meds, change of clothes, instant coffee, beauty aids. Anything else that I should include in this?
I've labeled boxes with contents, designation room, and whether it is fragile. Any other advice?
Friends are moving us, and I've got sandwich makings, chips, cookies, and bottled water for them, plus a snack sack to munch on during the drive. I've made up maps and directions for them, and even have certificates for massages for them! Anything else that I need to include for them to make this smoother?
I've contacted all utilities both here and there, alarm companies, insurance companies: anything else?
I'm so tired, but a little excited. This is our first move in 30 years, and I'm much older than the last time around! The body's shot, and I think the mind is going......Spiritual:

GOOD LUCK! We bought our house and moved in two years ago. I am 54 now. It was hard on the old body! Luckily we were able to do it pretty much at our leisure, but it was still hard.
Be careful and don't hurt yourself!

Well it sounds like you have a great plan already. The only thing I can add is take one box at a time, unpack slowly. The less you rush the easier on your body and your nerves and you will keep most of your sanity intact. Have fun with your helpers and then get some rest. Let us know how things go when you can. Moving is hectic enough without worrying about everyone else.

The only thing I would suggest is making sure any really important papers are packed in your car. That way you know where it is when you unpack. It sounds like you have everything covered. Good luck to you on the move. Remember you don't have to have everything done in one day. Take your time unpacking. "Getting to know your new house" will help you to figure out where to put everything.
Have a safe trip!

How exciting for you!! Do you have towels - paper and terrycloth available for washing off dirt and grime from hands etc?
Do you all have each others cell phone numbers - just in case?
Please let us know how it goes!! It will be good to hear back from you as soon as you can!!

Best wishes heading your way during the move. One of the reasons I have never moved is I can't stand the thought of the packing. Probably the best thing for me would be to have a dumpster brought in and throw everything out except the necessities. Of course, then I would think of all the money I lost because I didn't have a garage sale. Me and my overactive mind.

I have two recommendations.
First, have basic cleaning supplies handy. You never know what messes others overlooked.
Second, designate areas for your box. It will make arranging furnature easier. It will keep you from having to shuffle boxes around. I usually designate a room for box. That way I can still function in the house without tripping over unpacked boxes.

Like mentioned above, Make sure you have your phone numbers also. you never know how important these are till you need them.

You want to be able to clean, eat, shower and sleep without having to unpack everything. There might not be a shower curtain up, so make sure you have one and know where to find it. If you don't have cell phones (like me), have your regular phone somewhere accessible so you can plug it in when you get there.
Best of luck with your new home

Good luck on your move.
When we moved the first rooms to get unpacked where the kitchen, bathrooms, then the bedrooms and family room.

Don't forget to change your mail.
And in the needs list.....do you have soap, shampoo, towels, the other toiletries...or is that 'beauty aids'.......don't forget at least one knife, fork and spoon.......even when you grab fast food you often need a utensil.
Good luck on the move! Hope everything goes smooth! Stay safe.
