Default Has anyone ever heard of an old saying that goes...

My Mother had a old saying when she and someone would say the same word at the sametime. I cant remember it, I can only remember they would grab pinkies and that she would say what goes up a chimney and the other person would say smoke.Another part I rememeber is she would say when a wife marries trouble begins.
Touch blue make a wish and it will come true.
This is bits and parts that I remember.I hope someone has heard of it.I have tried to google it but I am coming up with nothing. Thanks in advance

Jinx--Should you and a friend say the same word or phrase at the same time, link pinky fingers together and take turns saying a line...

    needles,
    pins,
    triplets,
    twins,
    If we marry
    Our trouble begins.
    What goes up a chimney?
    Smoke.
May your wish and my wish
    never be broke.

Hmm, we just say jinx. Then pinch, poke, owe me a coke. I didn't know there was a whole poem.

I've always heard that you're supposed to punch the other person's upper arm and say "owe me a pepsi cola" before the other person punches your arm.

Some of my friends say "owe me a Coke" instead. Here in the South we say "Coke" for any soft drink.

Oh my goodness - I remember that.

You take the pinkie of the person with whom you say the same thing and then the thumb.

    In Scotland we said,

    pinkie to pinkie
    thumb to thumb
    make a wish
    and it's sure to come.

I was born in Scotland just before WW2 and when we said something at the same time we would link pinkies and thumbs of the right hands and repeat "Pinkie to pinkie, thumb to thumb, wish a wish and it's sure to come"; then one would say Sir Walter Raleigh and the other, Sir Francis Drake, what does a bottle do when it falls?. Break! and the link is broken. Strange how the memory goes back so far, and I haven't a clue what happened last week. (Joke).

So today I was in the mood for good ol' cheesy Lifetime movies and I'm watching one called "Bed Of Lies" and the guy says to his sister "What goes up the chimney?" and she says "smoke" and they have this little exchange. I've never heard of it so I googled it to see what it was about.
You're describing like a "jinx" type of thing but they were just saying it. So I guess it can be used both ways or maybe it was just done this way for the movie. Anyway, I wrote it down for you and here is the whole thing.

Person A: what goes up the chimney

    Person B: smoke

    Person B: what comes down

    Person A: Santa Claus

Both: shakespeare, kick in the rear

    Both: and happy new year!

Here is the movie in which I saw it. Try it at about 15:20
    Cheers!
