    Default Adventures with wildlife

Well, here's the start to my day.

I can hear the ravens outside, spreading the word to all their beaky friends about the buffet scattered around our yard by the bear who dumped three of our trash cans during the night.

Guess it's time to get out the scoop shovel and clean up the mess.

We usually get a bear about once a year. And now that I've said that, they'll be here every night.

Gees, I hope not! Is your dog inside at nighttime?

Just a funny story.....was in a store the other day and some gal (cashier) was grumbling about hating our 'nighttime' wildlife here (raccoon, possums, and skunks, mainly) and how she had trouble sleeping----in the conversation I asked her where she came from.........she stated Los Angeles!! So I told her she probably couldn't sleep without hearing GUNSHOTS and police sirens!!!

She agreed.........I was just a little 'sassy' that day!

Yes, our dog is inside at night. So is the cat. Usually the dog growls at bears, but if she did, we slept through it. The bears around here couldn't care less about a dog barking inside a house anyway.

We have raccoons here too. There was a mom and young one out on our feeders the other night. I went out on the deck and yelled at them. Mom jumped off our high deck and lit for the woods. Baby was a wuss and didn't want to jump, so I yelled at the little beast and stamped on the deck. He was clinging to the front edge for dear life, so I yelled some more. Finally he jumped and lit off after Mama. I didn't know those dang things could run that fast!

We lived in Minneapolis before we came here. It really is funny how you adjust and learn to sleep through the gunshots. Kinda sad, really. I'd rather have bears and coons instead of urban 'wildlife.'
