Thumbs down The igniter on our pellet stove just blew!

It's below zero outside and the igniter just blew on the pellet stove. The one store in Spokane (1 1/2 drive away and the roads are bad) that carries the replacement part is closed today. Luckily we do have an electric furnace as back up and had to uncover all the vents and turn it on. It's so expensive to run! Hubby is going to have to take time off from worktomorrow morning to go get the part and fix the stove. Thank goodness we have some money in our savings account that we can use to pay for the part (but that wipes out going on a snowboarding trip).

I'm so sorry Debbie! Like you said, at least you have an electric furnace. Hope it doesn't cost too much to run.

I'm sorry Debbie this has happened. At least you have the $$ in savings to pay for it, you don't have to us those cc. It always seems that when we have money saved for one thing, something pops up that we need to use it.

A pellet stove is like a wood burning stove, but it burns wood pellets to heat your home. It's alot cleaner than running a regular wood stove and saves us tons of money when it's working right!

Debbie, I'm glad you can still keep warm it is too cold here to be going without heat when I checked the temperature it was 19.
Hope you get it working before the next storm hits tomorrow.

I'm so sorry Debbie, but I'm glad you have a back-up source for your heat. Been there and done that, not fun at all!

I'm sorry to hear about your stove and trip, but am happy that you have a backup and are able to get the ignitor repaired.

    OK a dumb question

Why can't you just light it with a match or something? ( I do not know exaclty how pellet stoves work but don't they just burn the pellets and make heat?)
