A stupid question?
What exactly does "paying yourself first" mean?
Does this mean putting your alloted amount of money into your savings before doing anything else, ex. paying bills?

yes -it (they) always recommend taking your savings account money and emergency money out of the "bankpile" first and then divvying out everyone else based on what you can afford.

I've learned this is a very important key in saving. If you leave it in your chequing account and tell yourself you'll get to it later you know what? YOU WON'T. Pay yourself right away as soon as you get your money!
