DH was 20 when we first got married and couldn't fix Nothin!!!!! (except maybethe barakes on the car) He has come a LONG way ....mostly due to necessity...but now he'll have a go at almost anything ..... and generally gets it done. Sometimes he makes me nervous on how he gets it done (I was raised to be a real safety nut)!!!! I don't mind fixing things myself either and my father is a wealth of construction knowledge.....so I know we've saved tons of money by being able to fix things and build them ourselves. Generally he gets it done and I worry about the details (and point them out). It works for us!!!!

My hubby can fix almost anything, and he can build anything. He is the most resourceful man I have ever met. He/we have done this whole remodel ourselves with very, and I mean very, little help. The only thing we hired out was the foundation, and that's because we didn't have the wall forms our selves. My Dh is also a building inspector, so he knows all the codes to stick to.

Hubby can't fix a thing. I love him dearly, but he usually does more damage then he origanally started with. Some things I just don't want him to even try and fix. When it comes to putting things together..that's my department, hubby thinks if it doesn't fit...then force it.

MY DH is also a fixer type guy, he's remodeling the kitchen and he made the cabinets from scratch using materials he got free. He fixes almost anything when needed, gosh it's great to have your own personal handy-man!

He's a fixer.
In more ways than the obvious. We used to have issues because I would vent to him and he would feel like I was presenting him with a problem and he needed to "fix" it. Drove him nuts because some things he just can't fix. Drove me nuts because I didn't want him to FIX anything. Just listen to be vent
But it is nice when he can fix the garbage disposal like he did this morning

DH is more of a car guy then Mr Fix It around the house.
Since we have been married I have used the tools more then he has.I can fix pretty much anything as long as I have the right parts and simple directions.

He has fixed some of our major appliances and smaller ones too. He fixes lawn mowers and garden equipment. One thing I can't get him to do is paint. He hates that so I wind up doing a crappy job doing it myself.

Definitely not a Mr. Fix It. He's really smart, and I think he probably could fix a lot of things if he wanted to. I think the problem is he grew up in a house with a single mother who had to call someone to repair things whenever something broke, so it just never occurs to him to fix things himself. My dad fixed everything though, so it drives me nuts sometimes.

Unless it is a problem with the computer, no. My DH is not skilled at car repair or home repairs. He does do a nice job with painting, though.

Yep- I live with Mr. Fix-it. He has rebuilt our home twice. He has helped some of the Kids build theirs, also.
He can fix most anything. We do take our vehicles to our mechanic. Cars are harder to fix now & besides he never liked fixing cars.
He will also fix plumbing, but would rather not!!!!
I've had Him for almost 50 years....so I guess I gotta keep Him...lol

Mine can fix anything... and after 20+ years together, he's taught me a lot too!
We've renovated 5 houses together. Our favorite show is "This Old House". He can work on cars, too. When we were dating (I was a teenager), he rebuilt the transmission on my car, saving my dad over $1000. I kept him!
I've learned from him that "if you look at something long enough, you can figure it out".

My Dh can do anything!!!
He worked in construction for 10 years doing everything from the framing of houses to fix-it jobs. He can fix a house, car, computer, pretty much anything as long as he has the tools. That's been great here because the products are such poor quality that he has to fix something every couple days. I love him!!!
