I'd have 17 if I could.
I'm pretty sure, though, at my age I won't make it to that many......and DH might have different thoughts.

I hope this doesn't offend anybody, but it reminds me of the Monty Python sketch with the Catholic family, and the 'Every Sperm is Sacred' song!! Mum's doing the dishes and another baby falls out on the floor, and she says to one of the other kids "Would you pick that up please?" . Not for me, thanks! Two is plenty. Sometimes more than enough!

Emerald Mommy I don't watch them on tv, and by the way, the world population does affect all of us, and they have contributed more than the normal amount, that I am sure of. That is why we all are having this conversation and they are making money off of the television show.

Try having 21 kids
I have a cousin who married a guy who is one of 21 children and I am also friends with a dear older lady {86 yr old} who is the 20th of 21 children. I'm very thankful for my 2 girls

Well, if this is going to devolve into a discussion about "over population" perhaps it should be moved to the debate forum. Most western cultures are not even reproducing to what is called replacement rate. Russia, Spain, Japan, and most of Western Europe have fallen so low they're considered at extinction levels in just a few generations. Fortunately the US is not that bad yet. But as I said, that's a discussion for another forum...
I still don't see how a self-suporting family's size effects me whatsoever. And as for their personal choices of religion, homeschooling, etc. again, it's their choice.

I think having 17 kids would be wonderful...we have 10,but I do not think that we would be able to catch up with the Duggers.lol.

I would have a bunch of kids if I could! My nerves however would not handle it! while I don't think its for everyone, I really think this talk over "over-populating" is kinda absurd....

I don't think it's unreasonable to think of overpopulation. Resources on earth are becoming more and more taxed. We should at least consider the thought of future generations to come. I am glad every family does not make this choice.

I would have loved to have more children! Not 17, but a few more would have been nice. We had to stop at 4 for medical reasons. I think they are a neat family and if they can provide for them, then more power to them.

Sorry but world population does affect us all. What if everyone wanted and had 17 children?? The garbage alone filling up the landfills, water resources being used up, polution and the greenhouse affect from automobiles and other means of transportation, etc. I knew I would irritate a few by my posting, but that's okay, because world hunger is very real, and so is overpopulation.

Not everyone is having 17 children , some people arent allowed to have any children or more than 1. It all kind of evens out i think in the end.
