November 2008 Goals
Wowee! Where did October go!? It just zooomed on by and here we are, Novemember. The weather is very mixed, freezing artic winds and snow storms one day followed by a heatwave the next. Let me tell you, I was dishing out the Hallowe'en candy last nights in my capri's and tee shirt! It was beautiful out!
I think this was a first snowless Hallowe'ens here in a while.
Start of a new month....what are your goals?
* pay down or off short term debt (winter tires, medication, home reno/decorations etc
* build a better budget that enforces saving - start following it
* prepare list of homemade Christmas gifts, materials and decorations - think out who gets what and what their limit is etc
* once the homemade 'test batch' has passed with flying colours - package it up
* pull out the Christmas decorations and cards and prep list of recipients
* lastly as usual - stop unnecessary spending/splurging, save money, and purge!!
What are your November goals?
PS - Christmas is just around the corner....the countdown has begun! Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USLast edited by Libby; 11-01-2008 at 04:24 PM.

Okay, here goes:
Budget on paper & follow it.
Get back into a cleaning schedule.
Finish/buy all Christmas presents
Organize advent calendar.
Begin exercising.
Drinking one coffee in the am and water the rest of the day.
That's enough for me for now.

Not much on my agenda. I would like a month without many "assignments" for a change.
Inventory the stockpile and freezer. Will probably do that Monday or Tuesday when I'm off. Find the last "holes" that need to be filled in.
Work on keeping the apartment more or less decluttered. I'm just aiming for consistently neat, not perfect.
Raise the bar a little higher on savings goals
Lots of playtime with my backlog of unworked jigsaw puzzles. I splurged recently and bought an expensive one I have been drooling over ever since I first saw it. No more splurges, but that's my Thanksgiving treat - I'm taking a week off work and that's my vacation entertainment.
Re-read the four harper novels in Anne McCaffrey's Pern series.
So in a nutshell - less work, more play. Now that's a goal I can really get enthusiastic about!

I'm on a bunch of challenges, so I guess my Nov goal would be to meet all of those!
I am also going to make a concerted effort to pay off and close one cc by the end of this month. I have a little over $600 on it remaining.
I am going to get my aviary built!!!! It is in pieces all over my bird room floor, and I keep stepping over all the piles!! So my goal is to get it built and get the birds moved into it by the end of the month.
I am going to lose at least 5 pounds this month. I have been so busy with other things, I've let fitness become a lower priority. Now that the rain has started, I have even more excuses to not go for a walk/run. So I need to get serious about that and get the weight off. I want to go into a new year WITHOUT having to add "lose weight" to my resolutions!DH aka Mad Hen

I have my list of things I am working on for year's end. I hope for the month of November to:
1. complete atleast half of the things on my personal challenge list
2. Stick to my written budget
3. go for a walk atleast 3 days per week
4. Finish Christmas list and start shopping while sticking to list
5. Decorate for Christmas the last week of the month so I have time to enjoy it
6. Stick to the grocery challenge
7. Have some me time scheduled each week for sanity purposes (too stressed)
8. Get flu shot (scheduled for free at work Tuesday, can't chicken out)
9. finalize holiday plans
10. get more sleep

My goals:
-I have UPPED my grocery budget to $125 a week- trying to do $100 was killing me, and not only next to impossible for eating for the 4 of us for the week, but keeping me from stockpiling as I'd wish to.
- track down every dang penny
- work on figuring how to budget- I have tried the last few months, but my husband has both a stable, and unstable income, from his two jobs. Yes, I now how DR wants us to make a budget with the changing income- but I have found this next to impossible. how the heck are we to pay our house payment of almost $1500 3rd, when it takes a few weeks to save that up, and other bills are due during that time period? Have made progress setting aside $ every regular paycheck, though, for house note, making it not so stressful when due- am going to do same with car notes this month
-figure out what to for hubby's Xmas gift
Much improvements made the last few months, many more to go....

October was productive but too "out of control" to enjoy. This is a slow down month for me/us here at home and so while I still will have things to accomplish the main goal will for things to be leisurely.
~ get all of my numbers from Oct. wrapped up
(I have reciepts strung everywhere and things not tracked or totaled.....way not like me)
~ stay on top of the numbers for Nov.
~ plan out the rest of the Christmas gifts
~ knock out buying/making/wrapping all gifts (except cookies/candy) by Dec 14th.
~~~~sub goal: attempt to have all buying done by Dec. 1st
~ get holiday decorations up
~ meet village challenges
~ lose 6 pounds
~ put together annual goal sheet (resolutions)
~ compose my letter
Good Luck Everyone!!!!
Continue our tight budget so all the bills get paid on time.
Do more scratch cooking / baking.
Do more canning - current project is a BIG bag of potatoes.
Get some pumpkins bagged for the freezer.
Make some apple butter.
Do more small crochet projects.
Get some ads up on craigslist.
Start a food journal so I can track prices, and stockpile inventory.
My November goals:
1. I'm going to do an "Advent" calendar where each child opens a small (very small) gift each day in December until Christmas Day. This year, I'm going to put all the items in Christmas buckets (bought after Christmas last year). They are old enough now to read a calendar, so they don't ask me: "How many days til Christmas?"
I'm going to buy: gum, chapstick, ponytail holders, toothbrushes (already in stockpile), candy, a dollar bill rolled up, etc. Very cheap stuff. I think it'll be fun choosing things to go in.
2. I will get Christmas cards addressed and ready to send, Dec. 1.
3. Get as much baking done as I can, and fill the freezer!
Took a step toward one of my goals - got the aviary built today!! Woo hoo!! Now I just have to do some interior decorating on it, and get the finches moved in.
My biggie will be getting Christmas packages organized and mailed. I have no idea what to do this year, but it has to be light, small and cheap to mail. DH complained about the shipping costs last year. I think I'll only have to do two packages this year though...maybe three. Then the big thing will be to find gifts for the girls and DH...in December.
Other than that...hmmm...clean up the studio and get some work done down there. Need to finish that blouse for a friend. The sleeves are too short she claims, even though it's the length we measured. It is going to be a pain to change, but I'm going to give it a try, as soon as I psych myself up for it.
Then there's the Christmas stockings to sew.
Not sure what else to do. I'm hoping to finish knitting DH's Christmas socks soon.
That's it so far.
