What Are Your 2009 Goals?
My personal goals are:
1) Go back to pre-pregnancy weight (I'm going to start 'The South Beach Diet' in the beginning of January)
2) Declutter and simplify my home and life more
3) Fully fund EF ($1000)
4) Get a budget made and stick to it
5) Do 12 No-Spend days every month (for me it's hard, but it may get easier!)

Great post. I actually have a lot of goals for 2009.
1) I also want to go back to pre pregnancy weight, pre my first child.
2)Stick to my budget better then previous years
3)Save 3000 dollars to put new windows in our house...this will be hard
4) Start paying down student loans
5)Start exerciseing more....part of the weight challenge I guess
6)Continue using coupons like I have been doing in the past 3-4 months, I have been combining coupons with sales/clearance and getting really great deals, even free.
7)Once the snow leaves again I want to dry MOST clothing on the clothes line
8) I want to get my light bill down lower then what it is
9) Declutter, I really need to do this.
10) find where I left my patience....

--Get rid of a quarter of the things I own
--Go back to my pre-baby weight (90 pds)
--Set a budget and stick to it
Thats it because those three things are going to take a lot of energy.

Misti, we have almost the same goals for 2009!
-learn how to make a rag rug (Dave's ex left behind a ton of fabric and I think it'd be a great use for it, I want to try crocheting it instead of braiding)
-can and freeze more (need to buy a pressure canner)
-put in an asperagus bed and maybe some blueberries
-keep spending to only things that will assist in our self-sufficient lifestyle. Also only on things that will prepare us for my retirement in less than 5 years.
-keep energy usage at current level. We are oh so good at keeping the utilities down
-improve health. I am blessed with good health but I need to work harder at maintaining health as I get older.
-look into starting my own craft business. Honestly just thought of this this morning and I can't believe how brightly that 'lightbulb' went off in my head!
-Make sure that EVERYONE special in my life knows I love them!
-learn first aid/cpr/lifesaving
-finish sewing room and paint halls
-make myself indespensable at work and save over some leave, not use it up like this year.
-buy new to me car
-finish 6 month emegency fundLast edited by Dave'sGirl; 12-21-2008 at 09:13 AM.

great post!! i have been thinking about this a lot since the beginning of december.
my goals are:
freeze more (use the foodsaver i have)
learn to can (got a book to help but still need to purchase a canner)
exercise/diet to improve health (and lose weight) i signed up with a site on the internet to help me with this goal
get back to rebating and couponing as much as possible
get my stockpile back in a very healthy state
blog more - ive restarted my frugal blog
take more pictures
declutter and never let it come back (i'm gasping under the stress of all the clutter i live in--it does keep me from my goals)
keep and use a pricebook (made one up today on my google docs-just need to start inputting data)
start EF fund (this one is hard--i'm living on a tiny income but hope to find some creative ways to do this because i realize it is important)
participate more at the village--i've always loved coming here and the people that populate it
keep a schedule and do it -- getting a nice daytimer book for Christmas. i hope to use it to get more done this coming year
don't wait until the last minute to pay bills-this past year was so stressful because i've gotten into a slump on this - also reconcile my checkbook every month!!! i did sign up online at quicken (it's free now) to get a glimpse at how i spend my money.
be with my friends more-i love being a homebody but think i missed out last year because i'm so ashamed of my weight and the way my clothes fit
and lots more.....
i'm so hopeful for 2009, for good things to come

Do my seasonal decluttering.
Tighten the budget more for savings.
Contribute more to dh's new pension plan.
Use what I have at home (appliances, entertainment, food, etc.)
Try and cut down the cable bill (dh's only expense).
Finish all of the little projects I have around the house.
Get back to my 5 days a weekly routine on a consistent basis.
Look into some volunteer opportunities.

Well... 2009 is a year of changes for me. I don't have any really "set in stone" goals yet, but there are a few things that I want to do.
1. Get married and pay all in cash! My wedding is planned for March 2009 - so I'm sure this one won't be hard to fulfill!The cash part should work too - we've been working our bums off to pay the wedding in cash, which includes his moving to the States expenses and our travel expenses to and from MN where the wedding is... and also our honeymoon.
2. Incur no new debt except for a used vehicle for future DH, PERHAPS. He is an immigrant and won't be able to work for first 3+ months he is here. We'll live off of my income for that time and will only have 1 car. Once he starts working however, we might need a 2nd vehicle depending on where he works and what hours. He may be able to bike or walk or we might be able to car pool. I work 13 miles away so biking isn't an option for me. Since it's warm a lot here he might try to get a motorcycle license and find a decently cheap one to save on gas. If we can somehow manage to pay for a new vehicle for him in cash, we will - it all just depends on where he finds work and when.
3. Support future hubby & me on my income alone. again, since he is unable legally to work when he is first here, we have no choice. This may be a little tight, but I know we can do it!
4. Work on paying down debt & fund baby EF. Once he can work we will use one of our incomes to pay the bills and one of our incomes to fund a baby EF and pay down my debt (he is debt free). I'm hoping we'll be able to put at least $1000 a month towards debt. This would mean our EF would be funded in 1 month and then we could pay my loans/cc debt. Each item is more than 1000 dollars, so it'd take some time... but if he can get a job in the summer sometime, then we could have an EF and about 1.5 of my debts finished by 2010.
5. Work on following budget better, eating better, and saving money. This one covers a lot of things. I need to work on sticking to a budget and we'll also have to adjust to living together and having a budget we can both stick to. I need to eat more fruits & veggies and we'll also have to adjust to life as a married couple - my grocery budget works well for me, but I'll have to change a little at least for 2 of us. There are also areas I know I can save more money in..so that is a constant goal for me.
I think that gets the most important ones. Like I said, this year brings a lot of changes for me. I'll be married. I'm now (just recently) on salary instead of hourly wage for the first time ever. I'll be starting receiving benefits at work very soon. I'll finally have my fiance here with me permanently - instead of long distance that we've had for 4 out of the 5.5 years we've been together.
It should be a great year and I'm looking forward to all the changes!

Lets see:
2009 Goals
Pay off BofA card -car repairs screwed us last year so i am making this a priority
Bulk up the Emergency fund - have a BEF but i think i really want to beef this up due to dhs job
Get compost bin- i bought a book on this and think dh would be on board even if only to a limited extent
Put up Fence - our neighbors like to let there dogs loose in the neighborhood instead of walking them like responsible owners so this needs to be done as soon as frost time is over
Deck Railing - we have some salvage since my sis redesigned her deck so i would like these up in the spring
Paint LR/DR and Bathroom - im so sick of this color i could spit... we picked out some no VOC paint at home depot so we just have to get in motion
Do a forecasted budget for 2009 - i need to get the whole year into a spreadsheet to help me with the planning this should be done by Jan 15th

What are your 2009 goals?
What are your 2009 goals?
(if there is already a thread like this please point me in the right direction)
My goals
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pay off some bills/debt
Figure out how to feed the family healthy and yummy meals for less cash.
Continue to lose weight (and find new clothes frugally)
Find no cost or low cost things to spruce up the house.
Less eating out ( try to stick to our new eating our plan -- only on paydays for family fun (twice a month) this includes pizza delievery etc and one emergency/out and about meal. Eating out plan excludes when my mom visits and she takes us out she so loves to do this.
I'm pretty sure there is another thread like this, but no matter.
1. Continue to add monthly to savings and emergency accounts
2. Get son's Upromise account to 6K by remembering to purchase online through their website and using their clipless coupons.
3. Replace our 1970's era AC system so we are much, much more energy efficient ( should be relatively inexpensive; I work for Trane! )
4. Begin saving for Mr Mav's new truck
5. Collect all gift certificates and store bonuses ( that don't expire ) in one place for use at Christmas 2009
6. Get my credit score a scooch higher. Paying bills late is a really bad habit and not frugal at all!
7. 2009 - the year my retail website launches. *fingers crossed*
