The first draft of my book is finished!
I am excited but preoccupied with failure about it. Can that be possible?
It's eight chapters so far. Each chapter is between 15 and 34 pages long. The initial chapter is five pages long. I have some table editing to do for the reference section, but that'll be in the second and final editing phase.
The book's about frugality and how to prepare yourself for the worst of economic times. The timing was completely not planned (what with the economy being so horrible) but it is something that I've been really passionate about from the start. I'm a bit apprehensive about publishing it because I've never been one to be straightforward with anything I've had to say. I'm also horrible at putting things in logical order, which is what this book is forcing me to do.
The second and final edit will be between Feb 1st and March 1st. That edit will cover any sectional divisions with subtitles, as well as ensuring that any and all reference material is properly footnoted. I'll also be contacting publishers and finding out what each company's manuscript submission requirements are.
I'm still working on coming up with a title. I'm also trying to find ways to make sure that I'm not forgetting anything, which I know I'll end up doing anyways.

Congrats! I want a signed copy too when it's printed...I'll purchase it of course! Or would be the smart-frugal thing to do be going and getting it from the library!?!?!?!
Here is an amazing guide to publishers. It gives you everything from what they accept, who they accept it from, etc. It basically puts all the information in one place! Plus, it's updated every year! Our library carries them, so you might see if you can find it there (although, it'd probably be 2008) but you never know!

I am definitely going to offer signed copies! My mother is the first person to proofread it for me and my husband too. I told them both that I wanted them to be completely honest with me.
I'll have to check out that book, Sarah. I think that'd help me a ton! Thanks!
