I owned a house in the past, but personal difficulties, moving out of state, plus the recession resulted in me selling it at a loss and living in an apartment. It has now been three years since I owned a home.

Next year I want to buy a condo. Something small, affordable, and manageable for a single woman. Also, something that I can lock the door and go on my occasional travels.

My credit cards are paid. I just paid off my student loan. I still have a (low interest) car payment, but I have made the decision to focus on the home down payment first. Low Interest rates and real estate prices won't be around forever.

If I save hard I can have about $25,000 for a down payment by summer 2012.
