    Default Killing us slowly

I was reading another post about the floods in Iowa.. (sad) and the potential increase in food costs (sad) and in one of the links given in that thread lead to another link about a big conglomerate Monsanto Agricultural Company. One who name is synonamous with 'ROUND-UP' (mad)

Pesticides are a HUGE problem. I do my best to avoid them. What about the people who don't/can't. Meaning, they don't know. They can't afford the buy the pesticide-free version.

So I decided to actively search the web for information on this company- and nothing I see is good.

    http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=11796
    They have monopolized the seeds.
Monsanto controls roughly 90 percent of GE soy, cotton and canola seed markets and has a large piece of the corn seed market.

They don't hesitate to bring suit to farmers- even farmers who's acreage was contaminated by seed flying off the delivery truck - or by pollinators.
Monsanto has a budget of 10 million dollars and a staff of 75 devoted solely to investigating and prosecuting farmers, the report said.

Please see this website Organic Consumers Organization, which describes alot of what is happening and why we need to take a stand against this company. This is the type of boycotting I think is effective. (and the oil companies too!LOL!)

You tube offers quite a few documentaries regarding this as well.

You may sign a petition against Monsantos if you wish

In all fairness... I'll include the companies website - haven't peeked too much there. yet. http://www.monsanto.com/

Oh geez! I didn't mention Monsanto is also the creator of the carcinogenic saccharin! http://www.sweetpoison.com/articles/...ator_of_n.html

OH!! don't forget the milk! [nomedia]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67z6s3V8M4g[/nomedia]
Read... and let me know your thoughts. Pro GMO or Anti?

I don't even know where to start on this.

    Thanks for listening.

Monsanto is the "Darth Vader" of corporations. They are like the agriculture equivalent to cigarette companies. They lie and they kill.

OK -- some people may say I'm being extreme. Yes, I am. Monsanto is "evil." Just as the tobacco companies used to deny that cigarettes cause cancer and other horrible health problems, even though they KNEW better, Monsanto is more concerned about profit than about health.

    Thanks to the links.

Monsanto is the devil. Try googling their roundup ready soybeans and the terminator gene. This is seriously scary stuff.

Anyone who has studied the environment or the food supply knows that Monsanto is the worst company in the world. I was so tickled to find out that the farmer they sued in Canada took them back to court and won. It was just so sad that he had had to destroy the seeds he had developed over 40 years of farming. Also the new seed bank is a God send. Because with one company controlling most of the seeds if anything came through that diseased them it would almost wipe out the worlds food supply. I do not know what the government was thinking when they put that much power in one companies hands.

    Thanks to the links.

Speaking of cigarettes, you can make an insecticide by soaking cigarette butts in water.
