So, I've been using MyPlate at LiveStrong.com to track my eating. One of the things they do for you (and I'm sure other sites do it as well) is give you a pie chart (mmmm....pie) to show you what % of what you eat is carbs, protein, and something else. 62% of what I ate/will eat today was carbs. That seems like a lot to me, however, I know that I'm a carboholic.

Just thought it was interesting to have it laid out that way.

I thought I remembered hearing 20% from fat and 20% from protein is about right...so I think 60% from carbs is ok. I use fitday and they do the piechart thing...that's normally how mine looks, so I hope it's good!

It's on the high side of what is recommended:
The recommended daily intake for carbohydrates is between 45-65 percent of our total daily calories

It also depends on where your carbs are coming from - lots of refined sugars or whole grains.

I use software called Diet Power and it does the same thing as far as breaking down your diet. My biggest realization was that apart from Vitamin E (which isn't listed on most foods) my vitamin intake was more than enough just based on diet alone - no need for all those expensive supplements.

I am such a carb addict. Which makes sense, I am the only female in my family that is not yet diabetic. So I am trying to watch the "bad" carbs in my life. I will have to check out that web site. Thanks!

I love the pie charts. It really puts things into perspective.
