Default All Hobbies Virtual Retreat Weekend

We all have projects to finish (or start) for the upcoming holidays. It's time for another one of our virtual retreat weekends.

I nominate Sept 29-30, Oct 6-7 or Oct 27-28 as choices.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

Because we, the people, have the power to build a better future. KH

Participants choose a project or projects to work on that weekend and make a special effort to stay home and get it done. This can include setting up the crockpot for dinner (less work for yourself) or ordering in pizza, ignoring the housework for the weekend or doing it in advance, sending the kids off to the grandparent's, whatever you need to do to make the time.

THEN, during the weekend you make posts here to share your progress. You can just describe what you've accomplished, or post pictures. So that even though we're all separated by miles, we're sharing and chatting here in this forum.

Here's one we did last year: https://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/...20-2011-a.html

I vote for Oct. 27-28th. Oct. 8th is Canadian Thanksgiving. That will be a busy long weekend. And I have to help someone move on Sept. 29th.

Whatever happened to this? Guess it didn't happen. Never heard anymore about it. Too bad. Lots to do this time of year too, with a craft sale coming up. Ah well. With or without the retreat, I'm busy crafting. Hope everyone else is too.

    I'd be up for that.

Sure, what day do you want to pick? Thursday is a good one for me...in the afternoon and evening. Or Saturday.

I could do that. It might get me started on the bead project I need to finish by Christmas.

By Thursday, did you mean tomorrow?

Yep. tomorrow. I got in my sewing studio and cleaned it up last evening, just in case

I can get a few hours in Thursday, but it's date night. I have the applique block from hell to finish.

~These next two weekends are going to be awesome for me for crafting and I actually was planning on a spree. I spent last weekend getting my basement sewing room set up enough to function. My DH has too many vacation days to carry over until next year so he has every Friday off in November as well as all T-day week. He also has a 12 day vacation stretch in late December. We still have homeschooling on those Fridays but with the help of another teacher in the house I should still buy some extra time.
Now, I may need to buy a small space heater for working down there for extended periods. The basement is unfinished and there is only one heat vent for 400 square feet so it's about 5-10 degrees cooler down there than the rest of the house(which is 62-68* depending on the sunshine exposure). This weekend will be a test to see if I, and my machines, can handle the cool temps.
Here's what I need to do:
    trim hand towels
    make slippers for me
finish sewing stripes on stuffed tiger
    curtains for master bedroom(2 sets)
    reusable dusters
    hem hankies
    and napkins
    work on denim quilt

As long as I can complete a couple things this weekend I will consider it a success. I have a fair amount of organizing to do down there still and I will likely get sidetracked doing that as well.~

Okay. Then I'm in for Thursday afternoon and evening, and again on Saturday. Plus I'll have Sunday afternoon. We have company this weekend. Don't know their plans yet. I think this is the weekend they're at a conference. If so, then I have all Saturday free. If not, well, we'll see...

My plans are to finish up my 6" rugs for sale. I have 9 of them to finish off. Tomorrow I want to finish hooking them. I only have 2 left. I hope to finish most of one today.
