Default Adventures in Decorating Part 4

Now onto the kitchen....with leftover paint, I repainted the kitchen....then decided I wanted an apple theme, so I found a picture of an apple on the internet, & copied it on cardstock & cut it out to use as a stencil (free). So taking 7 wooden crates from my stash, I painted them all the same color, then taking craft paint, I stenciled apples on them. Dh nailed 3 of the carts together to make a small shelf where I keep my dishtowels and the other 4 I keep on top of the pantry shelves to house my paper towels. I already had an apple valance in the dining room (forgot to take a picture)...and I am thinking of finding another style of apple stencil to paint apples above the sink & stove

    I can't keep up!

Nicely done! Again! I love all the ways you've used those crates. It's making me wonder if I could pick up some myself. I've been trying to figure out how I can build a large storage unit in our master bath.

I'm thinking the same thing as Spirit Deer.... You've inspired me, and now I want to "do" some crate stuff too....lol! I always loved an apple theme in the kitchen. My GF stenciled an apple and check border on plain muslin fabric for her home made curtains. It's such a great theme, and I always see lots of Apple decor in the thrift shops too.

    Hope you do more!

There is a wealth of knowledge on the internet about reusing the crates - it is absolutely amazing what people can come up with. There was a guy that was selling a room divider that he made with the crate (on ebay). One side was the wall, the other side was a huge bookcase. The crates that I used were not die-cut....each of them were a little different & we had to work them into place when we put them together for the shelves. And the wood on some of them wasn't very smooth-but I like the "primitive" look that they have. Thank you so much everyone for your kind compliments Glad you enjoyed the show

I am enjoying how your creativity works. I was thinking of picking some crates and build a large storage for my kitchen.
