    Default Cleaning Challenge: Tuesday 5/27

Good morning everyone! Welcome to today’s challenge. Just a quick recap:

Each hour, I am going to post a small list of tasks for you to complete for that hour. You are to spend 15 minutes on each list of tasks I give you. Once 15 minutes is up, STOP! Trust me on this one, if you work for too long you’ll get burned out and you won’t feel like cleaning for a week. You can do whatever you want for the other 45 minutes in each hour. Read, watch TV, spend time with your kids…whatever, just no cleaning!

Make sure that when you’re doing your l5 minutes of work, you focus on the task at hand. Don’t get sidetracked and start doing laundry or organizing the sock drawer. Just concentrate on what you’re supposed to get done in those 15 minutes. Also, try to get the tasks done quickly. If you try to “think” about them too much, you’ll never get started!

So, are we ready? I hope so, because here’s our first challenge of the day:

#1: We're starting in the kitchen.
Load or unload your dishwasher (whichever needs to be done at the moment)
Give your kitchen floor a quick sweep.
If you have time left over, give the counters a quick swipe with a wet sponge or rag.

If you don't have a dishwasher, then fill the sink with hot soapy water and let the dirty dishes soak. You can sweep the kitchen floor and wipe the counters while the sink is filling up.

Get to work! It will be over before you know it. You can do this!

~Ok, I'm done! I wiped my counters first while my sink was filling and then swept. I didn't want to be wiping crumbs back onto my floor! My dishwasher was already running so I handwashed a bunch of big pots and pans that didn't fit into that load. Iced tea break!~

Dishwasher emptied, reloaded. DIshes in sink washed, stove washed, counters washed. Didn't sweep yet as snack time is about to hit and it'll require sweeping after snack.

Okay, dishwasher was already mid wash cycle and my kids sweep the floor, so I:

    wiped down counters
    scrubbed out kitchen trash can
wiped down appliances on counter top
    cleaned stove top
purged and put recyclables in bins

Thanks for helping me focus on one area, I tend to have cleaning ADD

It’s time for the next challenge:

#2: Moving along to the living area, your living room or family room.
    You’ll need
    a trash bag,
a box (or some other large container)
a laundry basket (or some other kind of large container)

Do as much of this as you can in 15 minutes:
Put all the trash in the trash bag.
Put anything that doesn’t belong in the living room into the box. shoes, toys, etc.
Put all the clothes into the laundry basket.
Grab some glass cleaner and a paper towel or rag and clean the TV screen.
If you have time left over, grab a feather duster or a damp rag and dust all the flat surfaces: The coffee table, mantle, end tables, etc.

When the timer goes off, STOP! Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection.

Done with #2! Yay! My tv went out on me this weekend. Early this morning I took tv down, dusted that area and rest of living room. Nothing is on my table, or out in that room. Thanks for keeping us on track.

Done...my living room is my family room, so there's a lot of dusting and stuff that doesn't belong in there. I didn't get to finish, but I did make progress.
