Default Homemade Christmas Challenge--How are YOU doing?!?!

I think this was where we were all posting about our progress on the homemade Christmas challenge. So how are you doing?

I've got several card sets made and ready to go. I've also started on my card organizers.

In August I'm planning to make a couple of hats for my nieces using the kniffty knitter.

Have two aprons made so far, one for my sister and one for my grand-niece. Last year was my biggy Christmas making 4 quilts. Have a pioneer bonnet made for my sister. Dumpster dived and found some awesome new stuff a while back with tags still on so gonna use some of that.

Gonna take tiny jelly jars and make mixes to put inside. I think that a case of them is like 4-5$ and the mix ingredients is in my pantry so that has been paid for a long time ago with the savings of making them myself.

After I get the mixes in the jars I will take calico prints and cut circles out of them and tie around the tops with a small tag telling what is inside and how to use.

I gave one of these cases of mix to my niece when she got married and she just loved it.

Last night i bought a pattern (on sale) to make tote bags and i bought a magazine (with a coupon) with embrodery (sp?) patterns for primitive samplers. Not to mention the scarfs i am making on the knifty knitter. Also going to do some gifts in a jar. So i have decided that i have to get moving. I am glad i have a plan and most of my gifts can be made with what i have. I will be better on posting my progress.

I have enough yo-yos made to make all the miniature trees for my mom's siblings. Just need to string them together ~ 1 hour tops. I have one button pillow sewn for dd teacher. I was going to make crocheted mary jane slippers for some co-workers, but I can't seem to get it right.

Good luck to you! I'm also making hats with my knifty knitter! I was doing great in June and July...now that school's started, I'm slacking! I gotta pick up the pace! Thanks for the reminder!

    I'm getting nowhere, too! Ugh!

    I plan on making
-card sets for my sisters and MIL
-a quilt for my dad (really need to start on this!)

Now I'm considering doing some kind of mix in a jar, since I believe I have a whole big case of canning jars in my closet I got from a yard sale a few years back. I might need to look for some good recipes to go in them. Does anyone have any cute jar ideas other than mixes?

kids and dh - pj' bottoms from all my stash of flannel
3 neices and 1 nephew - quilts made from stash
MIL - Christmas ornament/decoration (she's a huge Christmas fan and loves home made)
SIL, Mom, neice who's 15, - scarves on knifty knitter. yarn from stash
my girls best friends - embroidered something. sometimes jeans, personalized towels... not sure yet. Something special.

Those that don't make my list here usually get gift certificates, that I get from my airmiles..lol.

I got side tracked knitting dd11 a scarf for back to school.

Then I changed my plan. I'm making my brothers family aprons, all 6 of them. The littlest and mom do a cooking class together, my brother does alot of cooking at home, and all the kids help. So I figured I'd make them aprons. And all of them tote bags for the various activities they are in. I'm getting geared up to finish moving my studio so I should be sewing in a week or so. Once my dd4 is settled in school.

What are you enjoy doing? Can you sew, knit, crochet, paint? Let us know what you enjoy and I'm sure we can come up with ideas!

Okay, this motivates me to try to get my sister and Mom to agree to a homemade Christmas this year. Happily (or not), I have only a few family and close friends. I make up a cookie tray every year, so everyone gets that. For family, just my mom and sister, b-in-law, and nephew. My mother is a great cook, so I will sell her on it that way. She makes these little chicken pot pies that rival anything Swanson (or Marie Callender) ever came up with!
