    Default Pre-Holiday Clean-Up Challenge

Okay, so many of us are about to bring more into our homes as the holidays approach. I think that in preparation for that, we need to do a little clean out.

Over the next two weeks, I'm going to be challenging everyone to purge a little before we start bringing things in during the holidays.

For this weekend, I'm challenging you to get a grocery bag, trash bag, or some other type of medium to large sized bag. I want you to take it through your house and throw out any trash, papers, broken things, etc that you find in your house. I don't want you to rest until you are done filling the bag. Yes, FILLING the bag. Later in the challenge, we'll work on purging particular items, but for today, I thought it might be a good idea to start with just getting rid of the trash.

This may be difficult for those of you who have been participating in the Fall Fling, but I bet you can still find enough if you look in drawers, on counters, in nooks and crannies.

Post here to let us know how you did.

    I'll go first.

This morning, I filled two grocery bags with trash and took them outside immediately. I was able to fill one from the office, where I finally dug in to dh's desk. My desk is always clean...his...not so much. So, I went through and tossed and filed and it is a much more restful room now.

The second bag was filled from the kids bedrooms, the playroom, and the kitchen. Lots of school papers that needed to go, etc. So, my two bags were full and out and gone and ready to be picked up on Monday morning.

    How about you?

~I read your post and immediately got up and did it. I also cleaned up paper clutter. I cleaned out binders, boxes, drawers and fliers and mail and filled a big bag. For fun I counted the items. I threw out 119 items in less than 10 minutes. Aaaahh, that's so much better!~

I'm going to join in on this challenge. I can always do some extra cleaning up this time of year.

I'm now off to purge any garbage I can find in the house!

Okay, I just successfully completed the fall fling, so I'm up for a new organizational challenge.

It is too late tonight to go a-gathering, so I will plan on getting a garbage bag full tomorrow. I was going to start a new "dump run" pile anyway, as I have some old screens I want to get rid of.

I ended up getting 2 grocery bags filled up, it's not much but more then I thought I would be able to find. I just did a major purge this week when doing my normal house cleaning.

Looking forward to the next challenge, and I'll try to keep adding to this trash purge too.

I just cleaned out my pantry and reorganized it. I also made a list of the contents and I will make a spreadsheet for it.

Ok I am in on this one too. I took a huge bag of old magazines and papers to the trash. I have one more almost full and it will be out soon. I have a bag set up for each of my girls, and one for the DH, now to just get them to fill it! I love this and am looking forward to the next one!

I managed to completely fill up one large lawn/leaf bag and fill another one about 3/4 of the way.

Okay, I'll try today. I don't know if I'll be able to fill a trash bag, but maybe a small plastic bag. The fall fling has really cleaned us out. Do you girls find that once you purged, it's easier to go back a trim stuff even farther? Really the more I declutter and donate and recycle, etc., the easier it is for me to go through and trim down to just the bare bones of functional and necessary items. It has really made cleaning the house so much easier . . . and trust me with two little ones--and pets--and dh, I need all the help I can get!!
