I haven't posted here in a long time but I've been crocheting away. Each of my girls will get an afghan in a favorite color for tv snuggling. I'm making the boys ductigami wallets. I really like the idea of starting to buy gift cards now one at a time and movie passes too.

Since I've been on the dishcloth kick, I made a few extra and tucked them away for Christmas gifts. And a few scrubbies. And as of today, some watermelon jelly and nectarine mustard. I'm going to try to make up some brandied cherries, as well, for my mother. This will be my first attempt, but they look simple enough.

I'm using the Ball Blue Book recipe, mauimagic. Basically, you make up the syrup of sugar, water, and lemon juice, then add the cherries, then finally stir in the brandy at the end. My mother loves chocolate-covered brandied cherries, but the place I used to get them from stopped making them, so this is my first step at learning to make something similar! The ones she liked were dark chocolate, and the cherry was swimming around in a bit of brandied syrup in the middle. I'm thinking, if I can do the brandied cherries, I can do something similar, possibly with small chocolate cups.

I'd be happy to send you some for official taste-testing purposes, but I'm not sure if your state's strict agricultural limitations would allow it!

In reality - the restrictions are more for sending things to the mainland. I'm SURE there would really be no problem!!!!

Well, you may just be getting another package then. I don't like brandied cherries, so I'm not in a position to say whether they turned out or not!

I'm new to this post, so first, I want in on the Christmas challenge. I dont really have alot of people to buy for, however, they always want the expensive items. So, this year, I am going to try to put money aside for the items that have to be bought and look for some really good sales. Also, I am going to try to make gifts for filler items. Maybe some pj pants. I like the emergency personal items for the car also. Both of my children are driving now. So, I think I will make that for them. Also, lots of the food items are sounding soo good. I might try and substitute these items for bought ones for my dad and his family....they are the hardest to buy for.
