I spent yesterday on the phone with two friends needing a lift in spirits.

Tried to clean up a bit...more for myself, but in the end DH was the appreciative one. He likes the house smelling nice so I lit some stinky candles. It was nice to have the house not too bad when the ladies came for Bible study.

I made a conscious effort not to interrupt last night. I almost did it. Only interrupted twice...that I know of...

I spent time on the phone talking to people and making appointments...trying to sort things out. I figure I get brownie points for patience on those alone.

You definitely should get a reward for patience with people when making appointments! Sometimes they are nasty!

Yesterday and today I invited DH's friend for dinner. He is down and out and I feel sorry for him.

Walked a friend through this week's deals at Walgreens. I've done this with her before, but this time she actually executed it and was so happy she had to wake me out of a sound sleep to tell me! LOL Trying to help her learn some tricks to live on disability income for the first time.

That was nice of you marjorie! With someone else with you, you have two sets of eyes looking for the deals.

Went for a walk in a nearby shopping district. Took the time to stop and talk to the merchants. Had great fun chatting them up and asking them what they were up to. It took 2 hours to go four blocks and back...and then home. But it was worth it.

Ended up listening to one poor soul bare her soul about her lousy marriage and how upset and discouraged she was...and angry. I almost walked out on all the "F" words. But when they come that fast and furious, you know someone is hurting real bad. I let her get it out of her system and, in the end, we had a nice chat before I headed home. Took almost an hour with her alone though.

The whole time I kept asking myself what it was God wanted me to learn from this lady, and what it was he wanted me to impart to her. I got the impression all I needed to do was listen to her. In the end I couldn't offer her any solutions. I'm not sure she wanted any. But I did leave her with a smile on her face, and that counts I think.

There is a deal going on this week where Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce is 99 cents, but with an online printable coupon for $1 off it comes out to be free. I've picked up a lot of these cans and gave 18 cans to a local missionary family, 18 cans to be boxed and shipped to missionaries in Zambia, 1 to my MIL, 4 to my own mother and a few for me. It's hard to pass up a freebie deal, eh?

You could suggest she watches the movie "Fireproof" starring Kirk Cameron. It's a great movie; DH and I watched it last night. That may give her some information she needs.

Quiltin' Mama: EXCELLENT idea! I don't know why I didn't think of it. I just bought that movie for the church library.

We're on the way to the airport soon. I'll be dropping my car at a friend's house so she can use it while we're gone, then taking DH's car to the airport. Letting a friend use our carport while we're gone for her new car.

A smile can go a long way. (Plus it's frugal!)

What good you've all done! I merely gave somebody with a child in tow asking for a movie a free redbox code, and told her how to get her own.

Smiles are contagious and benefit both the giver and receiver. Debbie-cat, that's the most frugal act of kindness that one can do. It doesn't cost a red cent, and it's a natural resource that you'll never run out of.
