Default Good Idea for a Challenge or Bad one?

What if we start a monthly challenge to collect presents/make presents for our family members so we don't get overwhelmed when it comes time next year...

I think it would be a great idea..

I think if you are buying your fam's gifts (solely) then set a small ammount each month to buy a gift... If making then set yourself a goal of how many.

I always wait till the last min and I hate that about myself..

PLUS there are some other holidays with great shopping deals we have to look forward too!

    Just a thought.

I think it's a great idea. In fact I already started my own 2009 Christmas Gift challenge. [ame="https://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113804"]Quiltin' Mama's Saving for Christmas 2009 Challenge - Frugal Village Forums[/ame] Other than quilting (which I don't have much time for these days), I'm not the creative type. We like to buy gifts that are on sale/clearance so the value is much higher than what we paid. We also put quite a bit of thought into the gifts; it's not that we buy whatever is on clearance and hand anyone a gift.

I have already planned on doing that Rebecca. I added it to my sig because I really want to be ahead of the game next year and be serious about my frugality. I think it is a great idea!

It is a great idea, Rebookie, and I think I did sign up one one challenge or another to make a set amount of homemade gifts. I am slow, so I just plan on making one per quarter. But I am also setting money aside for next Christmas, and I'm pretty good about squirreling away stuff during the year that I think would be a good present for people. I have a Christmas closet.

I cleaned out my Christmas closet this year as it was an eye-sore and poorly organized. I think I will try and refill it just in a more organized fashion! Great idea for the challenge!
