Default 2009 Get a Project Done Each Month Challenge

I have SO many projects around the house that need to be finished, and I always think "some day" when I look around and see that the drywall needs to be patched where I had the roof leak two years ago, the porch is in dire need of painting, the "walk in" closet upstairs hasn't been "walk in" for years.

For 2009, every month, I am going to challenge myself to complete at least one project.

January's first project will be to clean/reorganize the laundry room. I hate that room, because it is on the ground floor, so in order to do laundry, I have to haul everything up/down at least one flight of stairs. So I end up dumping the clean laundry on the counter down there, and then just picking through it as I need things. I also keep my old store inventory down there, so I have to step over and around boxes to get to anything. I hope to save up enough to move the washer/dryer upstairs (got an estimate, and it will cost approx $3,500), but until that happens, I need to make that room functional again.

Another one I'm in on. We re re-decorating the house and I have a seperate challenge for me. I'll join this one too because it'll mean we have to do a room a month. Our January one will be to get dd's room done.

A room a month is great! Too ambitious for my timid blood, though.

I am in. Redoing the laundry room as well. Seems to be one of two dumping grounds for items that don't have a home.

I absolutely love this challenge!! There are several projects that I would love to get done and challenging myself to do one a month would help.

For January, I am going to challenge myself to organize photos into photo albums and start on DS#2's senior scrapbook. I have all types of pics and newspaper clippings to put in it that I have sitting in a box just waiting for that day when I will get motivated to work on it. January will be that month. Organization will help me more than anything. I will tackle bigger projects in the spring and summer months.

My first goal of the new year will be to get our garage cleaned up and organized, then take care of the black widow problem out there.

I love this idea! Think maybe we'll get the doors on our closets in our bedroom and organize the closet. Hubby took the doors off our master bath to make our room look bigger and it does. He checked them out and they are the same size as our closet doors. This will give us double doors on our closets. This will make it easier to get o stuff inside. Got a few ideas for Feb. too! THANKS

I'm in too! I'm not sure where I'll start, but no matter where it is. It needs organizing!

I am soooooo in for this one! I have many 1/2 finished rooms (painted but nothing up on the walls) so my first challenge for January is going to be my master bedroom. That room for some reason becomes a dumping ground for everything in the house. so thats my first one. Febuary will be my laundry room. Thanks for the great idea!

Fantastic idea! I have so much stuff that need organizing around here as well. It will help with my decluttering big time! I think my january project will be to reorganize my closets. I have 5 of them and I want to rearrange, so they kinda all need to be done at once. They aren't that big, so I should be able to do this!

For January I will be working on making the basement more liveable. Plus I will be getting the cats neutered. 2 jobs but both are desperately need to be done.

I'm picturing getting the cats neutered as a "project" and it is bringing to mind pictures of you trying to do it yourself.

I want a basement, darn it. I would have such an awesome root cellar if I had a basement. As it is, my house gets too hot to store anything that isn't bottled or canned. I've actually considered having a root cellar put in, but I can't do it myself (sitting on solid rock) and there are too many other things I *need* to spend money on before I invest in a luxury like that.

This one is for me! I said my New Years resolution was going to be organize everything. That is what I want to do. Last year was to get my budget in control and I have done really well on that one and so I am going to build on that success with becoming organized.
