Thank you Madhen, but I do NOT want any of your feathers!

On the other hand, if any of you want BOOKS? I can help you out. I've done this once before here. I offered up paperbacks to folks in the US (I can't afford the postage out of the US, sorry!). If you're interested, email me at the email below. I have a lot of fiction, romances, mysteries, westerns, etc. I don't send specific authors but if you have a certain type of book you like, I'll try and send you up to 3 books of that type.

What a nice thing to do! For better or worse, the LAST thing I need is more books!! I am trying to pare down the collection I have, but I refuse to give up any book that I love (and apparently, I have low morals when it comes to books, because I love about 95% of them). It somehow makes it easier to donate them to the library - it is like sending them to a kindly foster home, rather than accepting "filthy lucre" to send them to an unknown fate.

Okay you gals! Time for some weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. The annual stitching guild fibre sale was last night. I brought home some thread, beads, a kit and some fat quarters. Sigh. So take 10 off my total. That's what? 35? Sigh...

Madhen, I'm too discouraged to even chase after you. I'm lazy. I like my chicken already dead, plucked and packaged in plastic and styrofoam. I'll leave the dirty work to the rest of you ladies!

Hen, have you been discussing this with my 5 year old? He is trying to sabotage me. He keeps pulling things out of the trash. Here are some excerpts:

"Mom!!! You threw away 2 cards I made for you. You can't throw them away, I MADE them for you" (erm, it was a pile of scribbled on notebook paper..... *sigh*)
    ************************************************
Him- "Mom? Why are you throwing away some hair fings (thing)?"

Me- "Because some of them are broken or mismatched."

    Him- "Oh, they're broken?"

Me- "Yes, they ar.... JUST QUIT TAKING THINGS OUT OF THE TRASH!!!!!"

    Him- *bug eyed*
    ************************************************
    *sigh*

Give that boy a hug for me.

Maybe you can get him to throw things IN the trash. Make a game of it and see which of you can fill up a trash bag first.

Well, there ARE some things I'd LIKE to keep- pots, pans, clothes, food, YK?!?!

    LOL

That actually is a neat idea. Might have the kids get some stuff together for donation to a hospital or something.

It's never too early to teach them about giving to others. Maybe you can get him to "help" you with his stuff, and you can secretly take stuff back out later if he gets over-enthusiastic.

They already do. They can be very compassionate boys. About 4 weeks ago, my 5yo donated a box of gently used stuffed animals to the fire dept. My older 2 have had 3 lemonade/drink stands for Susan G Komen & they know the value of a dollar donated for causes such as 3rd world poverty, St. Jude, etc. Oftentimes, I'll donate to something & ask if they want to add money. All 3 of them count their money & donate some, occasionally all. They enjoy giving to the church for tithing & such. I'm a very.blessed.mom. <3
