    Default Weekend Mini-Challenge

In pursuing my personal summer simplicity challenge, I am going to be doing a deep purge of my home. I'm quite organized and don't have a lot of clutter due to regular purges, however, with 3 small kids and my husband and I working full-time, there are certainly some things that get away from us.

So, today, I'm issuing a mini-challenge for everyone at the village. We've done these before, so it shouldn't be too difficult for anyone to follow!

Grab a grocery bag or a small trash bag and make a full sweep of your house until it is full. Then, take it outside and put it right in the trash bin. Make sure you hit drawers, under beds and couches, go through all paper trash that is sitting on your desks and counters. Leave no area uncovered. If you fill your bag fairly quickly, perhaps you should grab another! I'm going to start with my nightstand drawer.

Let us know how you do!!! Take pictures if the spirit moves you!

I did take a one big bag and two small bags to goodwill. This summer my mother is helping me de-clutter my house so i have had this month I have had extra recycling and trash going out each week. How freeing to de-clutter.

I filled one bag from my nightstand drawer and my desk in the office. Today, I'm hitting the kids rooms, particularly the craft table in Julia's room to see if I can't fill another.

Great idea, thanks for the nudge! I got two bags out of my basement. I don't go down there much. I'm going to start with 15 minutes a week down there. Took me less than that to fill 2 huge shopping bags! I started a bit of straightening with the rest of my time!

Okay, Patrick and I just hit the playroom. We filled two bags with baby and toddler board books that I just listed on freecycle. Now all I need is for someone to come pick them up! The up side was that by clearing off that much shelf space, we were able to bring many of the boys trucks that had no home onto the shelves. Ah...the playroom is much more organized.

Then, Patrick and I did some board game surgery. We duct taped boxes that were falling apart and put pieces and cards and dice in plastic baggies in each box. This wasn't decluttering, but it was certainly organizing!

DH just brought home 8 boxes from the rental space for me to go through. Plan to see how fast I can do it. He's moving us into a smaller space and has literally over 100 square feet of stacked things to move - I shall not complain!!

US is playing Brazil for the FIFA cup championship so I'll also be well entertained!!
