Dirty Dozen Week-long Pyramid Challenge
I keep looking around and seeing all these LITTLE things that need to be done, and that I keep putting off, because they are almost too insignificant to stop what I'm doing and take time and energy to accomplish them.
So, to motivate myself, I have set the following challenge. Anyone else who wants to jump in, you have one week to prepare. The challenge starts next Saturday.
First, come up with a list of twelve REALLY teeny things that need to be done, but aren't getting done. For me, this would be things like refill a salt shaker, dust off the t.v. screen, etc.
Next come up with a list of 10 things that are minor, but that you want to do, maybe re-pot a plant, wash the cat's dish, etc.; then 8 things that maybe require just a teeny bit more time/effort; then 6 things; 4 things; 2 things; 1 thing; each time making them chores that might require just a little more of your attention, but nothing huge.
By the time you get to 1 thing, it might be to clean out the car or get your laundry folded, etc. Nothing that will be overwhelming. Our goal here is to get things done, not set ourselves up for failure.
On Saturday, August 22, you will try to accomplish those first 12 really teeny things.
On Sunday, August 23, you will try to accomplish those 10 things.
On Monday, August 24, you will try to accomplish those 8 things.
Etc and so on.
The breakdown is:
Keep your week in mind as you design your list. For example, because I work outside my home M-F, I will have to come up with things I really think I can get done in the few hours between work and sleeping.
- 8/22 - 12 things
- 8/23 - 10 things
- 8/24 - 8 things
- 8/25 - 6 things
- 8/26 - 4 things
- 8/27 - 2 things
- 8/28 - 1 thing
If you accomplish your 12 tasks on Saturday and want to tackle some of the rest of your tasks, go for it. If you get your list written, and you are itching to get some of it done before next Saturday, try to come up with another equivalent task to replace the one you completed, so we all start the week off with the same number of tasks to complete.
Feel free to post your lists here, as that will probably motivate me to realize that I have some of the same things that need doing, as well!! :)
