Default End of the Summer Purge Challenge

Here we are...last week of August. Summer is coming to an end and if you are anything like me, you are starting to get fall fever.

However, the unfortunate consequence of fall is that, like squirrels, we start stocking up for the winter. We begin to think about the long months inside, and that nesting mentality starts to creep in.

So, what do you say we prepare for the onslaught of fall and take this week to purge, purge, purge!

I'd like to challenge you all to grab those grocery bags and those donation boxes and start going through your homes. See how much you can toss. See how much you are ready to give away. See what you can sell.

Post your progress here and let us know how many bags and boxes are gone. We'll keep a tally and see who has been able to purge the most by the end of the week.

I started going through outgrown or old clothing here. I've purged 6 garbage bags so far. Not done yet.

I just took a bunch of clothes out to my donation box as well as a grocery bag full of books to donate to the library. There is definitely more I can get purged! I'm in!

I have a big bag of dd's clothes to pass along to my neice and was able to convince dh to go through his pants, and now have a hefty pile of men's pants to donate, as well!

Today I got rid of the last of the bibs that were floating around in the kitchen drawers. I also emptied out the junk basket that is on the counter in the kitchen and tossed a Polly Pockets lava lamp that dd had that is unusable.

I'm going to count these as 3 items.

I took a stack of books out to the bin I'm saving for the library and took some clothes and other items out to my donation box. I'm going to go through my closets this week and then I'll take the donation stuff to Salvation Army on Saturday.

Wow...I so need a purge..thing is...would probably take me the entire fall to purge everything I would want to! But I need to do this..and I have most of this week off so now is as good as time as any! I am looking into buying a house within the next few months and want to lighten my moving load! I wanted to "save" everything and hold a garage sale at my new home....but that just seems like defeating the purpose...I would have to move a bunch of stuff that I just want to get rid of anyways. So I think I'll just bite the bullet and donate everything I can...and be done with it! What a great challenge! I know I will be able to fill the trunk of my car a few times over to get rid of everything! It's going to be a big job but I'm up for the challenge!
