    September Computer Challenge

I don't know about you guys, but if I sit down in front of the computer, I end up there for a long time, just diddling around. So for September, the only 'recreational' computer use I'm going to have will be STANDING UP!!!

For now, that will mean only using the computer at the kitchen counter (yes, I'm standing up right now), but I'm thinking of buying one of those rolling 'music stand' type laptop holders., so I can be in different rooms now and then.

I will allow myself to sit down for 'business' use (I am taking an online class that requires about 30 minutes per day online- this is exempt.)

I use my laptop standing up quite a lot on the weekends, especially if I'm in the kitchen. But I also pop on while at work (actually keep FV minimized in the background on my work computer and check it when I have time), so that would be difficult for me.

Great idea, though, for recreational use. If you want to get really tricky, I watched a show a while back where a doctor recommended walking as much as possible. He actually had his computer set up on a treadmill!!

Nice idea.....won't work for me though.....computer is not a flat screen.......too big....even with the cordless keyboard.

Actually I use the computer to 'rest' anyway so I am on the go until I sit down here.

Cannot wait to see other responses - what a creative idea MC!!

    I would if I could, but I can't so I shan't.

Translation - arthritis won't allow this fun challenge. Bet people who participate lose weight too!!

MC, his was just a plain old electric treadmill (I think it would be too hard to try it on a manual) that had been retrofitted with a tray to sit his laptop on. He had it set VERY low, and he just slowly walked while he took care of business - talking on the phone, working on his laptop, being interviewed, etc. He was already a thin guy, but I remember his saying that he had lost a good deal of weight just by adding the walking to his daily routine.

OK, so yesterday I fell off the wagon in the evening, after being good all day.

I was trying to complete an assignment for an onlince class I'm taking, had to check my yahoo account for a message from the instructor, and it went downhill from there.

I'm headed out right now to look for one of those rolling stands, so I can use the computer somewhere other than the kitchen.

I am terrible at this challenge. BUT the days I have been faithful to it, my arms, hands and wrists have not hurt like they usually do. (I have a laptop and no real typing skills!!)
