Last Ditch Pitch Challenge
Two days left in the year! Two days before many of us try to turn over a new leaf and start the year out right.
So, along those lines, I say that we should, over the course of today and tomorrow, get rid of as much trash as we can. Toss the trash, list items you aren't using on freecycle or donate them, quickly, or list items to sell. No matter how you plan do to it, let's get rid of the "stuff!"
Take a garbage bag around the house and clear off all of the horizontal spaces. Put things back where they go, and throw away anything that is trash and just taking up space.
When you've finished the horizontal surfaces, go through all of the drawers in your home and try to make some sense of those as well.
Finally, just look around and put away what needs to be put away, and throw away what needs to be tossed.
Wouldn't it be a great feeling to wake up on January 1 knowing that you are starting the new year in a better place then you left the last one?

I'll do that! I've already done my fling thing for the year and am itching to get started again (and afraid if I quit I'll go back to my bad, old ways)

Since I'm hpme for 2 weeks,I've been trying to do some decluttering every day.Not sure how noticeable it will be.Lotta life going on here since Sept so the clutter was kinda just maintained if you know what I mean. Didn't get better or worse----guess the latter is a good thing. I really hope that this time next year,I can really tell the difference. Hope springs eternal-------------right?

Great idea. I am going to get started on this as soon as I get off of the computer. There is a "junk" (odds and ends) drawer in the kitchen that is calling my name.
The only problem is my SO's stuff. He doesn't like to throw stuff away (which drives me batty) and he leaves it all over the place. I usually just throw it all into a bag for him to sort through later. -

This is an annual Japanese tradition to clean out the house at the end of the old year. Tomorrow will be my day to clean out - great idea Amy!! Tonight I am finishing up 2009 paperwork, which is in itself a major clean out too!!
BTW - Scotch tradition is that the first person to enter the home in the new year brings in a food product to ensure enough to eat in the new year. We always leave canned fruit or vegetable on the doorstep so we don't forget!! -

I cleaned house pretty thoroughly for Christmas visitors, but I'll go through again tomorrow and see if there are any more dust collectors I can toss.
