Default Making my home more welcoming for us and others......

It just occured to me today that we haven't had any guests or visitors for awhile - other than guests from the mainland or other islands - I mean just drop in guests. I want my home to be comfortable and presentable for anyone at anytime. So here's my plan........

........each and everyday I am going to do something to clean and clear up my home as part of my daily home imrovement steps....and I am going to post here what I've accomplished.

    Today I:
*Cleaned off the LR side chair - and put everything on it away.
*Cleared off the coffe table - put everything away and folded up the coffee table
*Cleared off the couch and put everything away.
*Started the 'going to school' pile
*Did a partial clean up of the kitchen counters - means I did not take everything off, but put things away that didn't belong there and wiped down the counters.

It's a start and I'm going to stay with it.

Good Job! I know nothing gets me motivated to clean like the thought of company. I try to keep everything put away as much as I can every day but with 2 kids, 1 husband , 3 cats and a dog it isn't always perfect here. Good luck on your challenge. = )

Mahalo Jamielane - that's why we do okay with non Maui guests - we have time to prepare. I want to be prepared for everyday guests and enjoy having peole over more often!!

Oh MM you are so sweet to worry about company! You know me and my company!...... They get what I have to offer! I wish though that I could be more organized and tidy for when they drop in.

Good luck! I know you can do it!

Mahalo Debbie - I'm sure others might not mind, but I am truthfully so tired of living with so much stuff - want to have a nice and pretty home. The basics are sure here - just covered up!!

That is really nice of you. I don't like people that just drop by. They will just have to trip over the toys.

Way to go! I would love to have company stop over, but we don't really know anyone here that well.

I am sure you will get it done MM.......good luck....just stay with it.

My motto is: a home without 'craft piles' is not a home!

I have one friend that NEVER calls.....just drops in, but she is so non-judgmental that I don't even think about it.....not that I would worry anyway.

Okay....here is the plan........DC will drive (or fly) to my place....you will get here too.........then we will pop on over to Seattle in my car and fly out from there........much cheaper. You will get to see the beautiful Snoqualmie Pass....and other new territory.....and save money too!

That works. But do you have beer for the trip? Sounds like a plan and maybe we can help MM clean her house if we can sip some of that Hawaiian tropical special.

Isn't that one of the lines near the end of a Sugarland song? Of course dreams come true...you do everything you can to make it happen but when it does....its wonderful!

Maui - I know you'll get it done, you're full of determination AND you've broken it down into baby steps. I need motivation to get my butt in gear. There's been extra and unnecessary family drama (is it ever necessary?) over my dad and well....b/c of it, I'm all blah. Not motivated to do any extra towards my 'dream' of a clean and decluttered home.

    You can do it!
