    Default A New Beginning. Challenge.

We've moving, just after Christmas. We get our keys on the 27th and have until the night of the 30th to be out of here. No, I haven't started packing just yet (we found out on Friday).

We're moving from a 3000 sq ft house to a 1100 sq ft apartment. It is a very spiritual move, thus the challenge. To give away things we do not *need* or *use* to live more simply.

This week I am going to begin in each room to remove as many objects from each room that I possibly can and give them to people I know need these items or the local thrift store.

    Rooms...
    Master Bedroom/Closet
    DD1/Closet
    DD2/Closet
    DD3/Closet
    Bathroom
    Activity Closet
    Dining Room
    Living Room
    Kitchen
    Pantry
    Basement Storage

I definitely have a lot to do and plan on beginning right away in the moring. Tuesday we have a bunch of boxes being saved for us at the grocery store so I'll be able to start packing then.

Until then, I am excited about this new journey.

Friday & Saturday is focused on celebrating Christmas. Sunday the packing continues. Monday our DDs are staying the night at grandma's house so I can move as many things as possible while my husband is working...

Once moved - the new budget begins (we have the next three weeks planned out) as well as the organizing and being as simple as you can with three small children.

    Off I go!

    You can do it.

My friend did this with two small children when her husband went to seminary.

They got rid/passed on about 2/3 of their stuff. She said it was very hard and very freeing all at the same time.

I just noticed this is your first post WELCOME

Thanks everyone! I was sick yesterday so I got absolutely nothing accomplished. This morning I took the girls and we picked up *free* boxes from the local grocery store... so much packing to get done...

I'm mentally planning now to do the same thing in five or six years. (grin) Am looking forward to hearing more about your story.

It would be nice if the thrift store could drop off a trailer or you could arrange for a trailer (borrow from a friend?) to sit outside so you could load it up as you meet things to go to the thrift store. Then you wouldn't have to make a million trips to drop things off.

    Good luck with everything.

Last night we went through DD2 and DD3's bedroom and loaded up two bags of toys. We then went to the basement and loaded up my truck full of more stuff and gave it all away this morning.

Today I am going to plan out clothes for the next six days and pack the rest (mostly so I can go through them and make a donation pile or seven).

    Getting there...

They're actually only about a 60 second drive away, hehe. And they help me unload, which is fantastic. Keep things going. Keeps me warm in this Michigan cold!

You have peeked my curiosity. I can't wait to hear more details about why you decided to do this. I am contemplating similar actions. So I would love to hear your story.
    Happy packing and Happy Holidays!

Gave you a hug today...save it until the 29th...you might need it by then . I don't think I could do a move like that in a week.
