Dec 23 too soon??? (How about mid-November?? )

I already started the planning for 2011. I already started a scarf for Old Man.

Diva told me the only thing she wants for 2011 is a gray sweater... haven't tried sweaters before - I need all the time I can get

Yep, I'm in for this as well. I am going to start working on some embroidered towels as soon as I can figure out what is wrong with my embroidery machine. I am also goiing to make some table runners and maybe some wall hangings. I have sooooo much fabric, I am going to use some stuff out of my stash. I am going to try some tote bags and some in-the-hoop embroidery projects as well.

I have had this saved since last year--I just wasn't a good manager of my time and didn't get them made for this Christmas!

I used newspaper to wrap gifts this year and christmas fabric from my stash torn into strips for the ribbon.
DIL used brown paper bags, inside out to hide the store name, and she crocheted her ribbons with a skein of forest green and a skein of burgandy yarn.
DD used white freezer paper and stamped on the ribbon with a Christmas ink runner.
Home made wrapping made for alot of fun conversation.

    A. The family does not like or appreciate it
B My crafting skills are not "good enough"
    C. The finished product is not good enough

Here you go, I just created it this morning and it is pretty "rambling" It is so easy, honestly, its one of those "if I can do it, anyone can" items.

My first scarf is about half way done! I hope to have it finished in the next couple days and I will move on to another. I like making scarves, they are easy and fun. I would like to get some nice Wool yarn to use for the boys/men in the family since the boys love to play outside and some of the men like to hike in the cooler months. It would be a practical cozy gift for them!

Me too! I only made the gift tags for my presents for my sister and nieces but that was a start. I don't think they appreciate when I make them gifts. Years ago I made them bath salts & I don't think they used them, never heard anything about it. I do enjoy making gifts rather than buying them so I'm in too!!!!

I went to Target today and looked at wrapping paper. Can you believe they are SELLING gift bags made out of brown paper sacks?? The moment I saw that I remembered this challenge. I am going to save brown paper sacks ALL year and use it for wrapping paper. I have the prettiest red and gold thick/wide ribbon to dress it up with.

    YAY FOR CHALLENGES!

so happy to see that I am not alone!! Christmas Eve at work while looking at a magazine I commented that I needed to write a few of the ideas down for possible homemade gifts for Christmas next year. Two of my staff laughed at me. ;P I would love to be in, I have a few ideas, not just for gift giving, but for home decorating.

I think I've decided on 3 of my gifts to make.
My MIL & step FIL hinted that they would like quilts next year.
So I'm hoping to make them each a quilt and also one for my FIL.
This year I had made my Mom a quilt, and she loved it.
I will be using fabric from my stash. So really no out of pocket expense.

Am still thinking on the rest.

I'm getting better at figuring out which hm items seem the most appreciated. My sister got a jar of homemade strawberry jam this year, and her eyes lit up when whe saw it. She was silently mouthing "thank you" while all kinds of conversations were taking place all around us. She's the one most likely to appreciate. Makes it tough, because I think giving your time is more valuable than anything.
