I thought I posted a project here I've going to have trouble keeping this thread and the other organizing thread separate in my mind!

I am in, and will love this challenge. For Jan. I am going to do like sightofoneself and organize my bedroom. I have a Victorian home, with beautiful antique furniture. I decorated the bedroom to look like a bed and breakfast, but sigh..... things have gotten to the point they need to be organized again, and a better use of space to look good all the time. Some furniture will have to be moved around etc and make better use of what I have, no clutter sigh....

I'm in this year, too -- participating last year helped me get a lot done around the house that I otherwise wouldn't have accomplished.

January: Store Christmas decor, organize hall closet.

I put up the little decorative things from the kitchen and bathroom, plus the stockings. Didn't take 5 minutes. Only the mantel garland and Christmas tree itself are still up right now, and I'm saving them for the coming weekend because they'll be quite labor intensive.

Haven't touched the closet yet and more than a bit scared of all that might fall down if I go to rearranging things!

I'd like to join in too; I have a ton of stuff to get done. I think my January project will be my bedroom, cleaning out my closet and the dreaded stash drawers (don't know where it goes? stash it!)

Looks like a lot of us are doing our bedrooms. Maybe we can motivate each other

Mini-project one: Organize Geisha Girl Stuff

I collect geisha girl china (such as this Pre-1940 3 Pc. Painted Geisha Tea Set, Saucer Creamer Sugar from chainsawchuck on Ruby Lane) and my grandmother has just flooded me wtih gift after gift of it. Even after I told her that I am quite content with just the unique pieces or having one of each, I still have 35 saucers. As a result, I have filled my shelf and my curio. During the bedroom swap, some was moved from our bedroom to the kids 'just for a bit', and some moved into the downstairs office.

And I got more for Christmas.

So today, a large box, the Sunday paper, my geisha girl china, and I have a hot date. I'm going to display my unique pieces and wrap up the rest and place in our storage area in my basement.

That will get the overflow out of the kids room and out of the office, which gets me one step closer to completing the room swap. It will also makes my dining room look nicer when my curio is prettily arranged and not swamped.

Those are very pretty McD. I like your plan and think you will get more enjoyment from them and lose the risk of something getting broken that isn't in the curio cabinet.

Ugh, so many projects to do here. I'm going to need about 50 months in 2011 if I'm going to do 1 a month and still get anywhere.

I'll break it down by room & mini projects.

First up is my youngest girl's room. She needs:
    • chalkboard painted and installed
    • window treatment
    • trim painted
    • edges of closet door planed down
    • transition piece in threshold
    • bedding
    • wall appliques
    • closet & clothes organized

I'm not sure if joining this one or not, but may I ask how long some of you are keeping paperwork?

My paperwork is organized but I think I'm keeping too much.

7 years? Last year's until you do tax returns then keep those?

If this is hijacking, please move the posting or tell me and I'll start a new thread elsewhere.

    Thanks!
