5 pm came and went w/ no word, so DH called our realtor to see what was up. We were told that there was a possibility the new contract hadn't made it to the buyers, since their realtor is apparently out of town, but also a possibility they'd gotten our counter offer and chosen not to respond. Our realtor is supposed to call and figure things out Monday, but for right now, we have no contract and are back to square 1.
Don't worry yet. This stuff never happens in a timely manner, especially on a weekend, especially during the holidays.
Time drags even more when you're waiting. :hug2:
MyMel: don't write them off yet. It's a busy time of year.
I finished a deep purge of my kitchen today...all except the junk drawer which I'll do on its own tomorrow. We took out two large garbage bags of stuff and a box of breakables. I figure we cut the non-food items in half in there.
I emailed my friends and told them to come go through it and take what they want before I donate it all to a worthy cause.
Thanks guys. I am trying not to become discouraged and reminding myself that what's meant to happen, will.
I got 30 cards ready yesterday, and need one more photo so I can finish card #31, and then they can be mailed off tomorrow.
Keeping DH company while he de-clutters the utility room. I've been doing the laundry and a freezer/cold room inventory on my computer. Finished the basement art area...I think. It's so hard to decide what to keep and what to give away, so I settle for rearranging and organizing it all. :sigh: I haven't painted a picture in years, but when I need the paints for other objects/projects it's nice to know they're there and I don't have to pay $20-40/tube for them!
Onward and upward! The sewing room next...
I got a LOT done today in preparation for the upcoming week. Put gas in the car, made this week's menu, bought groceries, make 2 dz. muffins to freeze, and cooked/seasoned enough chicken for 2 recipes later in the week that I froze. So with 2 slow cooker recipes and the 2 chicken recipes, I am set with an easy cooking plan for the rest of the week and leftovers through the weekend!
I made an A in my class!
Congrats on the A mymel!!
Whew. Glad that's over with :-)
I've decided tomorrow I will call the realtor to have her check on whether our counter offer was ever received so we can go from there. Christmas cards will be mailed out tomorrow, too, and I will be calling my MIL, SIL, and brothers to find out what magazine subscriptions they'd like for Christmas from the Coke reward points. DH will be picking up a small gift I ordered him from the post office (he doesn't know it's for him and thinks he's just doing me a favor, mwa ha!) and I will wrap it tomorrow afternoon, too. My goal is to have food gifts decided upon and ready to be made by this coming weekend.
Great job MyMel! Congratulations! Good job on your DH.
I spoke w/ our realtor and she advises she's made several attempts to contact the buyers' realtor w/o success. But the weekends are notoriously bad for offers. She will try again, and emphasize that we are open to negotiation and their best offer if our counteroffer is not accepted.
*fingers still crossed*
She's right about weekends, and it's even worse during Christmas season. This is just about the worst time of year to try to sell a house because most people's minds are not focused on real estate, plus a lot of families have extra expenses such as gifts, travel, entertaining, etc.
SD is right MyMel. Hope it goes well with your sale though.
I am busy picking through the detritus of the sewing room. Also saving some stuff I purged with DH the other day. A friend reminded me we need to keep some of the tins, etc. to sell things in next year. Good point.
The realtor called DH and apparently the buyers never got the offer. They're to meet tomorrow to get a response together. Not sure if we'll receive it tomorrow or Wednesday.
