Sparky's doc gave the go-ahead to try only the Xalatan drops, so we're quitting the tablets till we see him in a couple weeks. If her pressure is still down, then we'll try using just the drops. If not, then he has a couple alternatives we can try. We'll see what develops. My goal is to just keep her comfortable by keeping her eyes at a normal pressure.

Today was a mixed bag for my challenges, but that's okay.

    Sunday's list:

    1. Track food.
    2. Work on wolf picture.

    3. Look at sewing machine.
    4. Make new recipe.
    5. Tend Aerogardens.
    6. Fling six cookbooks.

    7. Remove doors from cabinet.
    8. Sand front of cabinet.
    9. Medicate dog.
    10. Empty dishwasher.

I made wilted spinach with pasta for my new recipe. I've looked at that recipe for about ten years now and thought it would be good, and it has hardly any calories. Why does it take so long to get around to trying a new recipe?

I couldn't work on the cabinet because it was storming outside, but in the interest of doing something home-improvement-ish, I designed our new deck and made up a materials list instead. We finally concluded an 18x12 deck would be a nice size. If we have any money left after medicating our poor doggy and filling the truck with gas to go get the lumber, maybe we'll be able to start the deck in May. We haven't priced the materials yet. I'm sure it's going to be painful but it's not going to get any cheaper and we're not going to get any younger to build it, so we've sorta concluded now is the time.

I flung about fifty small cookbooks. I was going to do six for the list, but it was going so well I went through all of them instead of dragging out the frustrating sewing machines. So I'm counting today as a success.

    Monday's list:

    1. Finish column, now that I've fixed all the stinkin' problems that weren't my fault in the first place.
    2. Sand cabinet front.
    3. Remove cabinet doors.
    4. Work on wolf beading.
    5. Read thirty pages.
    6. Spray mushrooms.
    7. Make new recipe.
    8. Work one hour in sewing room.

We really liked the pasta and spinach. I'm so bored with our food lately and adding a new recipe every day to my challenge has given me that extra little push I've needed to try new stuff. I should try doing that about two weeks a month. I have stacks of recipes I've copied to try 'someday' and loads of books with bookmarks marking recipes for 'someday', too.

    Wilted Greens With Pasta
    1/2 c. ring macaroni
4 c. torn fresh spinach or romaine
    1/4 c. sliced green onions
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 t. cooking oil
    2 T. lemon juice
    1 T. soy sauce
    1 t. honey
    dash ground cayenne
Cook pasta and drain well. Keep warm. Combine spinach and green onions in large bowl. In small pan, cook garlic in oil one minute. Add remaining ingredients and heat just to boiling. Pour hot dressing over greens. Add hot pasta and toss. Makes six servings, 66 calories per serving, 3 g protein, 11 g carbs, 2 g fat, 0 cholesterol, 201 mg sodium, 256 mg potassium

    Monday's list:

    1. Finish column, now that I've fixed all the stinkin' problems that weren't my fault in the first place.
    2. Sand cabinet front.
    3. Remove cabinet doors.
    4. Work on wolf beading.
    5. Read thirty pages.
    6. Spray mushrooms.
    7. Make new recipe.
    8. Work one hour in sewing room.

I think I'm really not motivated to sand the cabinet. I would like to get it done though. It's going to replace some of those stupid wire shelves right inside our entry door. The shelf brackets are falling out of the wall. Besides, a cabinet with doors looks nicer than open shelves full of clutter. So I guess I better keep putting the cabinet on the list. Maybe I'll get sick of myself and just get it over with. Then I could paint it.

    Tuesday's list:

    1. Sand cabinet.
    2. Remove cabinet doors.
    3. Read thirty pages.
    4. Make new recipe.
    5. Work on wolf picture.
    6. Sew at least one shopping bag.

AND... I bagged trash to take out.

Sad cooking story. Some years ago I tried Annie's Mac and Cheese because everyone raved about it. It was wonderful - but so much more expensive I always passed it by.

Then Kroger's had it on sale for .50, so I bought a LOT of it. Tonight I used about the third or fourth box. It, like the others I tried, was horrible. It has a bitter taste that I just can't eat. I threw it all away, like the rest that I had cooked. So this seems to be the standard. Never mind the $ - I'm tossing it all. I wouldn't even give it to anyone. Back to Kroger brand. Cheaper and tasty!
