That had occurred to me as well - my SO would have conveniently waited until it was clean before fixing it.

I managed to do the dishes, give the kitchen a decent clean and then rearranged a few more items to free up more cooking space. I tidied the living room, sorted out the rubbish and made the bed.

DH's family house wasn't tidy; we had maids when I was a kid. . . so we both have bad habits, or just don't have good ones? We both clean, cook, do laundry. The separation here is he does the auto mechanic stuff (I wanted to learn as a kid, but they wouldn't teach me cuz I was a girl.) and I do most of the garden stuff, including the mowing.

In fact he just came and showed me our largest sauce pan. I made stovetop berries & dumplings and even though I hadn't cooked it the length of time the recipe called for, it was nearlly completely burnt. The food was edible, but there was this burnt crust on the bottom of the pan. DH has a "special" wire brush he puts in the drill press and he cleaned the really nasty pots for me.

The sponges/rags are in the laundry, dinner is in the oven, and the dishwasher is running. I've only been home 2 hours, but I've been busy!

Yesterday I had a friend over so in preparation I did a pretty decent tidy, clean and dust of the living room; a surface clean of the kitchen; a clean of the bathroom; a tidy of the bedroom; a vacuum and a quick mop.

Oh and Febreeze of the sofas and cushions

My plan tomorrow is to clear all the stuff in cubby in front of the attic door. For one thing, I put a lot of the summer clothes in there, and it's HOT now, and for another, I am SICK of looking at it! If I do this, it will be my "new spot" this week.

Did plenty today. Cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, changed the spare bed, tidied the living room, tidied the spare bedroom. Pretty content.

Today consisted of a deep kitchen clean, plus a quick living room and bathroom tidy. Most importantly though, I managed to finally get around to sorting and organising the bedroom. I culled a substantial amount of clothing, including pyjamas, and riffled through all the drawers. It's not completely finished, but a huge improvement.

SO also helped me take out the rubbish which was created from such an overhaul.

May I join this challenge. I have been gone from here for a while. I am now trying to get my house cleaned and organized it feel apart while I was done with health problems. I have so many projects it is hard to know where to start so I am hoping with this thread I can post the little steps and then see how much I have really done.

    Welcome back!

My new thing has been to try and see the house as "small rooms." The small room thing is because I CAN clean a small room, without invoking panic, I can't look at a BIG room and not immediatly find 20 things I need to be doing more than cleaning, or... (panic button pushed).

So, the small room thing is working, mostly. The house isn't "clean" or "tidy," by any means, but pieces of it are getting cleaned and then recleaned more regularly than before, which COUNTS as far as I'm concerned.

    Tidied bedroom
    Tidied living room
    Dusted living room
    Did dishes
Deep cleaned bathroom - including de-molding the walls and tiles
    Put up new photo frames
    Watered the plants

Ran out of time to vacuum, mop and do a deep clean of the kitchen, so I'll catch up with that later in the week.
