Default 2011 Weekly Pyramid Challenge - Week 18

I'm first? Everyone but me must be spring cleaning!

I'm going to do categories this week, rather than counting. It's going to be primarily health/food with some housework and work-work. I really put on weight during and since chemo, so I'm going to start a low carb diet - and that wipes out a good chunk of the pantry. I did it for a while many years ago and it worked, I felt better and was healthier. I explored the newer atkins version and it has room for a lot more vegetables, so should be more sustainable. I'll be gearing up for that. It should definitely help with the glucose control. But tomorrow for lunch I'm having one last glorious good-by to fried chicken Cane's chicken combo! Or maybe a Griff's burger and fries. (Isn't that dispicable?) Then... down to business.

    SHOPPING - 0/6
    Order larger salad spinner
Thursday - order rotisserie for delivery Mon/Tue of next week
    Replenish testing supplies
    Make grocery list
    Kroger trip
    Super 1 trip

    ORGANIZATION - 0/6
    Start food journal
    Create several standard salad recipes
    Find three new recipes
Make a short list of foods/net carb counts
Go through stockpile, sort by usuable, not
Decide where to donate off limits items

    FOOD - 0/3
    Try chicken/tomatillo recipe
    Prepare salad veggies
    Cook for work week

    HOUSEWORK - 0/4
Finish putting away carpet cleaning day flotsam
    Water plant
    Catch up on weekend dishes
    Collect, take out trash

    WORK - 0/4
    Finish Focus Group 2
Do half of Focus Group 3
    Statistics
    Schedule

    That's the plan!

Donna, I tried that trick of folding lettuce into a dishtowel and then whirling it around. I went outside to do it so as not to splatter water all over the kitchen. It worked great and now I'm not interested in buying and storing a big single-purpose salad spinner. I mention that in case you'd like to try it before plunking down your hard-earned money.

I have to get some lists made. Tomorrow.

Tiger Girl - I did Cane's for the farewell to fast food. It's the best chicken going! I will miss it. Maybe, eventually, it can be a once in awhile treat, but I'll try to be good for now.

SD - Thanks, but I got the salad spinner today. I'm afraid if I try the whirling thing, I will end up rotating my knees or carelessly making a sideways movement. On days like today (weather stuff) it's excruciating to walk in a straight line. That would put me in ICU. I have a small one now and love it. But I'm going to be eating a LOT of salad greens, so this is a good investment. It will save me a lot of time in the kitchen. But I did use a coupon!
